Chainlighting vs. Lightning

Building a MF sorc which skill is better if had to invest in one? I figure with chain you can hit one person or multiple? any suggestions? Thanks.

Do you have lag issues?
If you do, I would definitely invest in chain lightning.

However, if you don't I would do lightning. I think lightning does more damage with it and the synergies maxed then cl does with the same. So I would base it on how much lag you have.

So test out both and see which one you are better suited to. However, if cl does more damage period then use that.

Thanks. No Lag issues. I did see that Lightning has higher percentage fro synergies 4% vs 8%. I thought chain would be better for doing MF runs. Get the boss and all the minions at the same time.

Well again it's all suited to what you feel more comfortable with, but an argument against that is that some minions would be immune to lightning, making those strikes totally unnecessary and with lightning, anything specifically in front of you would get damaged as well as the boss always getting damaged.

In my experiences with a lite sorc (never used her much for MF, she was a keyer/rusher/etc; blizzard was my MF), I have found regular lightning to be much more useful. It won't suck your mana pool dry as quickly, I think it generally does better damage (not that you'll ever know when your attack is doing many K's of damage...or 10 damage), and you can simply tele strategically to be able to zap your arcs right through all enemies. If you are doing a lower-level area, CL will better, but if you're on a tougher stage, I'd use lightning.

If you are only lightning (I'm assuming not, since you're asking about only investing in one), you'd just want to max both for the synergies anyways, and like Blue said, see what works best for you.
