Elemental Damage Question.

Ok this is a way old question probally but still would i be rong by saying this
1cold damge is more than one fire damage
1 fire damage is more than one lighting damage
1 lighting damge is more than one normal melee attack damage.
what im trying to get at is if you have a 10k fire ball and i have a 3k ice blast your not doing as much more damage as you actually thought. you get what im saying ?
one more thing where does magical damage fit in there if what i said is correct?

No... 1 damage is 1 damage no matter what the element. Your targets resistances are the deciding factor. The higher their resists to a specific element, the lower the damage done to them.

Cold has the advantage here, because Cold Mastery pierces enemy cold resistance. But different facets will help you out as well.

then why would any one want to get fire sord when there is 65 k lighing damage?
can enimies have magic resistance.
this dosnt make scence to me becasue why would gems have diffrent amounts of damage on them
like the cold gem has the lowest amount of damage on it fire in the middle then lighting?
wouldnt they all be the same number?

Magic Resistance is the most uncommon. Only two monsters have it I think. And 65k lightning damage is the extreme. A lot of enemies are LI, but probably not many more than are FI and CI. It does seem like the most common immunity though.

I think the lightning spells suck to be honest. The best one is probably charged bolt, all the others are quite useless because with nova you need to be sitting on your target, and even with thunderstorm you only hit one monster a second, and you won't get that much damage out of it. If you like lightning, go for a Javazon.

ok if u take 65 in half its still at 32.5k lighting damage which is alot more than fb can get to.

its most likely lightning with a ton of perf light facets
