Computer Restarting ?!?! help

My friends comp keeps restarting after like 5 min of it being on and it donst recognise the mouse somtimes , really weird please help. Also when it restarts it has to load the recover screen and scan stuff he has nortan anti virus and stuff but it hasnt detected anything as far as i know please help ?!?

Two more things not to be rude but how can i defrag if it keeps rebooting so often scince it takes a while to defrag. The other thing is do u think just whipeing it clean and reformating it might work, if its not the power suply.

you may have a bad power supply or you can try this

open the dos-promt and type
sfc /scannow

after that defrag the comp and reinstall the mouse drivers

a few things i ran the sfc /scannow and it finished wile i wasnt looking and it didnt show anything in the dos screen does that mean it was good/sucessfull or do u know another thing is when i say recognise the mouse it acts like nothing is plugged in the usb port, so it dosnt even light up=optical.
another thing will not defragging your comp for a long time make it do wierd sh!t as far as making it reboots thanks alot and please help.

actually it kinda reminds me of Blaster...if thats the case.. u might have to format.. did he keep his windows' up to date?

Yeah he kept up with the updates
