Disk Cleanup Help

does anyone know why my disk cleanup for Windows XP doesent work with hard-drive C,
it says it will take sevral moments before it can work and it just stays there and doesent finish so i cant get to the disk cleanup, it is relly backin my hard drive up so does anyone know were i can reinstall or another way to do disk cleanup? pllzz tell me

Uhh... are you talking about a disk degragmentation or an actual reformat?

its disk cleanup it says right above deframent, its tthe one were it deletes files and frees up space

I don't think it backs up the files.
ANd just wait a while. It took forever with me too.

try making sure u have nothing else open but the clean-up thingy. make sure u have ur screensaver (if u use one) disabled, u can also try starting comp up in safe mode and seeing if that would help; besides that guess ur comp just doesn't like u throw it out window and buy new one. (sorry, i'm outa ideas)

uhh 2 things how do i start it in safe mode and how would that help? and do you know a website with people who can help?

for safe mode, press F8 right when windows is about to load. www.computing.net is a place where i got most of my help when i can't help my self. Just make an account, and go under windows xp fourms, and go way down to the bottom and put your question there, and post it!
