Need help about hex editing

I saw the faq on this site for hex editing, i follow what its say to modify the strenght to 255 like its said, but when i want to go on my char its say "Impossible to connected to the game. Bad generic file" Does someone know why i have that annoying message?

you may have corrupted the file somehow, i would just use a editor if i were you.

Is there another way to get skill level more than 99 or Hex edit is the only way? cuz someone told me i must use hex :S

the hero editor lets u get higher than 99
same with diabolic

its the one i have o.o skill limit is 99 cant go highter
