chainlightning vs. lightning

hmm which skill gives most damage chain ligthning or lightning?

i depends, my lightning sorcs does 11k chain lightning, and 31k lightning, but if there is 2 monsters, chain lightning bounces back and forth between the 2 for a total of 12 hits, so, that makes each one take 11k times 6 hits, so, with 2 monsters, chain lightning can do 66k per monster, and its also better for groups, but for duels, lightning is better because of its high damage

its for a orb sorc to backup when boosting what you think are the best?

hmmmm, to back up for rushing?, without maxing CL synergies, it doesnt do that much damage, so lightning would probably be better, for 1 it costs less, 2, if ya got a good hireling, he can tank the cold immune or whatever, and 3, lightning costs less mana and does more damage then chain lightning, not sure of its damage without synergies though

Not such a good idea. Focus on one element if you want high damage.

Max both... synergies to each other.

15 points isnt much damage, lightning at lvl 15 does 1-194, chain lightning does 1-208 and gets 8 hits, or you could put 1 point into lightning and then the rest into charged bolt (synergy) and it would do 1-411, or you could do 1 in chain lightning, then the rest in lightning and have lightning do 1-181 and chain lightning do 1-96 and get 5 hits

edit: what lvl are you and how many more lvls do you play to get?

have maxed mastert (ice) and ice bolt...

i ofcourse have +skills and 1 point into ligtning mastery (7 with skill)

Then its up to you. neither is too useful since you are buildin 2 elements with cold as main. Ur sorc is screwed already, IMO

i've heard that with an orb sorc u should max its synergy since it is only +40% maxed, in that case, i would use to points for a backup skill

yeah id just go wiht what mpeck said because even around 400 dmg is enough to help out a bit instead of nothing or just get a mercenary and let him tank the bosses u cant kill
