Most popular being grief.
Followed by doom...asterons..etc etc
BUT
Theres one weapon which hardly...or not many people realise...
STORMLASH!
Though it isnt a rare or godly weapon...but look at the mods..

Those in bold are the important ones.
The static field is goign to help a lot...it can reduce ur number of attack by 6-10+
3 smite can get a boss to less than half hp if static field casts every hit.
All these is just for your info.
Because ive never seen anyone's guide with stormlash as an alternative.

Stormlash is, indeed, a very nice weapon against any high life boss. It's fast, has a range of 3 (only matched by a Berserker Axe), the 33% chance of a crushing blow is very nice indeed, and the 15% chance to cast Static Field is awesome. There's a catch, of course, being the even higher chance to cast Tornado, which will be cast about once per second, interrupting your fury of Smites.
But Crushing blow is definatly the way to go, I killed Über Baal in 19 seconds with my Smiter, in a 6 or 7 player game, with no godly items what so ever. I was using the following:
Helm: Guillaume's Face
Weapon: Black Scourge
Armor: Duress Archon Plate
Shield: Rhyme Zakarum Shield
Gloves: Magnus' Skin
Belt: Verdungo's Hearty Cord
Boots: Gore Riders
This gives me a total of 100% crushing blow, with a 6 frame attack speed. Or in shorter terms, I trigger a crushing blow 4 times per second, guaranteed, with the first hit knocking of over 100'000 hit points.

Yes, you will reach the last breakpoint with that, but deadly strike doesn't work with Smite, so Mara's is better.

is grief better than all of the wepons for smiters tho ??? or is the higher % of crushing blow more important and does more damage???

This depends. Grief add's an amazing 400 damage to each Smite, before it's multiplied by Smite, Fanaticism, or any other source of increased attack speed. Crushing blow is just plain nice to have.

I have always been a fan of stormlash.
I made a frenzy barb assuming he would bring down any bosses life insanely fast with static and crushing blow setting off so much.
Unfortunately, it's hard to have a high attack raiting, and even with Battle Cry, you miss an awful lot.
With smite, I feel it is an excellent PvM item.
I've always wondered why more people didn't choose this route.
As an alternative, I think Last Wish may very well be the best choice:

hmm...never heard of last wish but it looks good. also i wanted to kno that wen ladder resets and grief is on non-ladder (rite?), can i make grief with the runes or do i hav to trade for an already made grief? also.....is one of those crushing blow wepons better than grief? im not sure... thanks

not 100% sure but i dont think that you will be able to make one yourself, you will most likely have to buy one that was already made before the ladder reset.

What happens when ladder resets is that all ladder only items gets moved to non-ladder, that's about it. You cannot make ladder only items in non-ladder now, nor will you be able to when ladder resets.
As for the raw damage / crushing blow question, this depends on what you plan on killing. For Über Tristram or any other high life boss, than crushing blow equipment wins every time (note above, Über Baal in 19 seconds, in a 7 player game). However, Stormlash is not a good weapon, stopping every 4 Smites or so is terrible to say the least.
I'd say, an Asteron's Iron Ward is the best choice. High damage, mediocre range, crushing blow, plus to skills, and it's also fast enough with the addition of a Shael rune.

for a smiter i'd go with a ber'd shako (dr) or guillamine (cb)
use mara instead of highlords (ds doesnt work)

duress archon or nigma if u need str ... maybe ebug coh
gores
dracs
grief for the dmg and ias (i think reduce def works also)
evortex exile (i prefer the extra lifetap chance)
i soloed uber trist with this build

From what i heard...A cheap 80+res smiter can easily solo uber trist...Once life tap kicks in..bam ure fine.
Btw...Don't bother using eth lacerator...The ampli and life tap together might cause some problems..

u DEFINATELY need the life tap...hearing from what u said...u havent solo'ed' or seen uber trist yet?
Completing uber trist make the hell bosses look like ants...
Sacrifice some dmg and get the life tap...U DEINFATELY..need lt...Once it kicks in...u can do ur other stuffs...watch tv while u hold ur cursor..
