Small Questions
#1
HI, i want a pvp smiter and was just wondering either phase blade or zerker axe should be used to make grief, and also do they have to have ed in order to be worthy of socketing? And im trying to decide to use fort or coh in a archon plate. I only want one of those armor so please tell me which one is best for pvp. Thank You. Big Grin

coh is the best smiter armor
LIKE I SAID IN MY GUIDE FORT DOES NOT ADD DAMAGE. NOT INVISIBLE DMG, NOTHING.

now.
IF u use zerker grief, with 40 ias + u manage to get 20 more ias, and ur fanactism is at least lvl 24, then u will reach the highest ias breakpoint. The range on a zerker is 3.
IF u use a pb, with 30 ias and fanactism at lvl 24, u reach the highest ias bp. The range on a PB is 2.

If ur going to pvm, i suggest PB, since its never gonna break. Zerker axe breaks extremely fast, like any weapon when smiting

for pvp, i wouldnt even use a grief. If u have to, then id suggest a 40ias zerker+20ias rare gloves.
LW PB is the best pvp choice imo tho

Holy shit, LW sucks in PvP.

There is only one answer to this question, and that is GRIEF BA. Range is what makes all the difference in PvP. You do not need to make it in a weapon with %ed, since that %ed does not add to Smite.

Yes, you are.

Use this tool to calculate the IAS that you will need. If any problems/questions, I'll be glad to help out.

The thing is that the +damage on Grief, combined with Fanatiscm gives a far, FAR greater bonus to damage than the meager aura on LW. The Might aura on LW only adds ~1kdamage. How the added damage on Grief works is, if you look at your shield, you will see: "Smite damage ~70 blabla", now if you havea Grief 400, for example, it will get added onto your shield damage (400+70) and is THEN multiplied with the %ed bonus from Forti and Fanatiscm.

The Might on LW only gets added on to after Fana and Forti have been calculated already and does not affect the base shield damage, unlike Grief.

last i checked 1.10 ... fort DID not add to smite dmg, it was bugged. there were many tests run on this and blizz f-ed up resulting in the ED not caldulating with smite dmg.

to my knowledge, 1.11 this bug hasn't been fixed, any ED does not add to smite dmg.. the +dmg does from Grief, but not ED %. You're going to have to google it to find out (i just did but can't get onto those sites...firewall won't let me from work), but im 99% positive that it does NOT add to smite dmg.

the other mods on fort are decent for smiter, however, every good (well, all suck except BM smiters, which can be godly) smiter uses Enigma to namelock and smite, using mass 20life scs. Phillyfan on battle.net has made a sexy smiter using enigma, 20life scs with mods and does very very well.. all be it he uses 400/40 grief and has the greatest gear (+2/2os/visionary circlet etc).

if u want a good pvp smiter, you're going to have to go BM, mass life, and godly gear. gl bro, going to cost a lot.

Interesting. I'm quite sure it did, but I may as well be wrong. There used to be an excellent guide on Smiters by Cauthemoc (spelling?), so I googled it and came up with this thread on this forum.

edit: Anyway, shouldn't the ed% on Forti stack on top of Fana's?

That's up to you to decide. What is your dueling style going to be? If this is your first Smiter for PvP, then I'd go for Enigma for tele, until you learn how to desynch, etc. Make the next one based on personal preference.

i wouldnt get enigma for pvp.. just for one thing you can get across the field faster with charge ( more usefull ) coh will give you res.. and that 2 to skill. but fort.. iono the shield it gives off is pretty good also.

If you don't know how to desynch, go for Enigma. Any caster with at least some skill will easily own a Smiter that's not desynched. Also, Enigma can be very useful for desynching since it gives loads of FRW.
