My argument still stands: What does DS do other than play games? NOTHING! Thats the problem, we no longer live in a world where single use devices are necessary. Techonolgy has evolved and gotten a lot better and a lot smaller. When DS hit the market the first thing I thought was "Did we just jump back 10yrs?".
Nintendo is a dinosaur bottom line. People WANT simulator!s Thats why they sell so damn good. People want to be able to safely live out their wacked fantasies without fear of pursecution and they find that sanctuary in simulators not in Mario or Sonic (BTW there were alot of better games than just Sonic that came out for genesis).
Sega only failed because playstation mastered cd technology before they could. If sega had perfected cd tech faster playstation wouldn't of had a chance and we would all probably be playing on a sega console instead of a PS2 and PSP. I'm convinced that if Sega-CD hadn't been so buggy and got such bad reviews because of that then Sega would have been more motivated to move forward with cd tech. But much like Nintendo they got stuck in cart tech and hence suffered greatly.
BTW PSP movies come in UMD format and thus I can take 5 movies and a few games with me and be set since I can put songs on the mem stick, which I can easily carry more than one of seeing how they are so small. I end up carrying one 1'x1' box while others tote multiple devices to achive the same amount of entertainment and realistically spend the same amount I did doing so if not more.
I have a PSP and I usually get more like 4-5hrs of gaming from it than 2-3hrs. I think some of the very first ones that shipped had defective batteries or something. That or they didnt wait the alloted original charge time to use it.
