But instead of downloading a firewall from the internet, use a router. Simple, easy, and a lot better than any of the firewalls you can find.

A router will do nothing to protect you. All a router does is allow you to hook up multiple computers to one internet connection. Thats it. UNLESS you get a router/firewall combination. The only problem I have seen with those is that sometimes the firewalls are half-assed and the extra expense spent on the combo deal becomes a loss.
