when i run 3dmark06 it gets the same scores as amd x2 4800. 5000 mine falls alittle shy, but regardless both can play games just fine
erm no. Core 2 Duo's dont rely on mass GHZ like the old Pentium D's or P4's, so a 2ghz clock speed isnt that bad. i agree you should at least get the 2.4ghz one, but a 2ghz core2 duo will still do better then an equal price AMD. not saying it would be better than a 5200 but it WILL be cheaper.
