and here are some new features

The multiplayer chat screen will now show a preview of the map you will play on.
The creator of a private Battle.net game can now make the game public under the creator’s name in the multiplayer chat screen.
A Friends List will be added to the game to keep track of your friends on Battle.net.
Friend mail will be added to the game to let you email members of your Friends List.
A password-recovery and email-registration function will be added to allow you to recover your password via email.
A minimap ping will be added to the game to allow you to ping a location on the map.
It will now be easier to set building rally points.
We will include updated versions of three of the most popular ladder maps – Lost Temple, Dire Straits, and Rivalry – in order to better suit the newer style of ladder play.

well technically you wont lose your shit unless you uninstall your diablo 2. id play diablo 3 when it came out. id be sayin hell yeah. even though my comp prolly wouldnt be able to run it. all the fun is starting a new game. dude diablo 2 is old and is getting very boring. they prolly wont get to it until 2006 or longer. and by then blizzard will have stopped suporting diablo 2. this game might even be in the works and they are just not putting up news about it.

for single player you can just c/p the character files you want to keep. with BNet I would hope that they would just integrate your old characters and do what they did with D2:LOD and allow you to decide whether or not you want to convert that character to D3 standards or not.

o.o; Uhh.. If anyone followed, the Worldstone was destroyed by Tyrael's sword, Azurewrath. That world is 100% doomed man.. It would have to be somewhere along the lines of Baal being resurected somehow, by the stone being recovered. Sure, the storyline can continue, but lets think logical. 3 words :

The chance that Blizzard is going to spend anymore money on a new game for Diablo III is beyond me... I think that if there ever was a D3, it would be pay-to-play... Blizzard's just loving these new P2P games too much. WoW is a big hit, and Vevendi (SP?) is a bit pissy about Guild Wars. Even though the team working on Guild Wars is from Blizzard. >_>;;

Agreed. D3 wouldn't come out. Actually, now that it's mentioned, I heard rumors of D3 clear back in 1.08. We thought .08 was the final patch, and were thinking D3 was under development. Anyone else remember that? Well, it's 1.1 now, and we're all saying 1.1 is final. I think 1.11 will release, remove the World Event, and fix any last bugs before it becomes final. I don't think any new features will be implimented. Battle.net for the D2 area will probably be improved via statability.. They should add radio buttons for joining that can specify what difficulty of games you want to view in the list. Sent that in to Blizzard as a suggestion, chances are it will never be heard. =P

Fair idea, though! The C++ for that little script is child's play, they could throw that in there just because it would only take about 6 strings to create. xD

That's the most asinign thing I've ever heard. Diablo III won't be coming out. As said above, "THE PEOPLE WHO MADE DIABLO II LEFT BLIZZARD ALL TOGETHER." Heard of Guild Wars? There's your Diablo II company! They made a completely new game! Diablo III won't be coming out, because the creators don't support the company anymore.
