hoz has 82% blocking for pally. with a 37% holy shield, that's 119%.
at lvl 80 u need 116 dex for max block.
at lvl 85 it's 123.
at lvl 90 it's 129.
at lvl 95 it's 135.
at lvl 99 it's 140.

-eth zod perf Tmight, Coh, or Levi i guess
-uped Gored
-45%+ Rends
-Eth vortex exile

-Highlords wrath
and on other side Cta with a +1 skill shield such as lidless ect...

lol i dunno much about ladder so i dont know whats expensive or if any thing is expensive :\

silver...in that case i can just put on fortitude, get hit by some monsters, then put on whatever 2k+ def armor and still top u def-wise, and while i'm at it, i might as well go put on spirit ward and get hit till i cast fade too, and same goes with every chance to cast whatever item. pvp would be total bs if that's how everyone duels. dmg-wise, it's still possible for me to top u there due to ur lower DR. ur lower life will make it even easier to KO u in 1-2 hits. phoenix is clearly designed for a glass cannon build.

but then again most people dont carry forts around in their pocket/inventory or are that smart to try that trick....

Websk8ter, CoH has crap def...i'm sure u can see that. have u even read any of my posts? exile is not needed. like i said, defiance will not prevent u from getting hit, and when u do get hit, u will be hit HARD. life tap will NOT save u from that.

to answer ur question, Killbobo...unless u feel like having 222 hard stat pts in str to wear ur temp might, find gear that adds to str. i would suggest SS, but it seems that u have ur mind set on HoZ. that's fine, as long as u can get enuf ber runes to stick into whatever free sockets u have. ber + cham perf CoA = 15 + 8 = 23. perf verd = 15. ber HoZ = 8. 23 + 15 + 8 = 46%DR, which is good enuf. btw, i usually put a cham rune in the helm, since i never switch it out for anything else. shields and armors, however, are sometimes changed to deal with certain casters.

for +str gear, dracs gives 10-15, ebotd gets u another 30. anni gives u another 10-20, and hopefully u have a few other charms that have str suffixes.

as for u folks who are still obsessed with exile even after reading my previous posts, go ahead and keep using it. u're not on west, so what do u have to worry about?

yes but dont forget that exile has a high block chance and around 1k+ def plus defiance to make it harder to hit you rather then relying on blocking. and yeah CoH does have terrible def i was a bit reluctant about that choice... levi prolly best with str mod and high DR and no need for a cham then cause u cant be frozen with it.

since when did exile have a high blocking chance? i don't see any increase chance to block mods on it. as i recall, elite paladin shield base blocking chances range from 51 (vortex shield) to 60 (sacred targe).

yes, the defiance helps a bit, but if u read the test results i posted, the difference it makes is not likely to alter the outcome of a duel.

...levi itself requires 174 str to wear. the str boost is not that useful unless ur other items are even heavier. here are the exact stats of levi:

maybe yeah i get items confused alot but still levis a bit better then getting 200+ str for tmight, im not sure whats exact str is im not familiar with ladder or the new rune words so these are just my opinions

Eth botd Zerker (402%)
Exile (it's crap, but ok for now, only like 800 def, nothing special)
Umed Gaurdian Angel
40/15 ias in a perfect .09 Gaze
Gorerider
Dracs for now but I want Perfect Rends.
2x Cgrips
pMaras
Wearing a Tgods but want a pVerdungos
an anni (don't know the stats off by heart, but the EXP is perfect)

Right now I have 14k def, 13k ar, 13k dmg (I'm a charger) 95 all resists except 90 to psn, in hell (it's not my equip alone, I need charms to pull that off, including my anni)
I'm lvl 83, def should go up because I'm putting it all into Holy Shield from now on. (Charge synergies are only adding 30 dmg!! gah!)

ur ar is a bit low, but a few charms can easily take care of that. i think u should also use angelics. ur def is EXTREMELY low, even for a pally without exile. u ppl have been saying that exile gives u MORE def right? i think u should use something other than guardian angel for armor. it's only useful against casters. same with maras.

ungh, extremely low def? Well my exile is really low, but you have to realize I'm a charger, I shouldn't be sitting around taking hits, I charge in and out, not stand there and get whacked. And without Exile I only had half that def, of course it gives you more! Also like I said only lvl 83, every level a skill into holy shield will raise it.

149 to ar...compared with angelics' 1k+ ar? leech has been nerfed down to pretty much nothing in pvp. u won't need the resists against a melee char.

even if u charge in and out, the moment u step close, i would swing at u. charging is considered running (i think), so when u charge at me, ur def is 0, and ur blocking is cut to 1/3. u WILL get hit, so come to think of it, i guess def isn't really necessary. this means the defiance from exile is pretty much useless to u, and so is the life tap, since u rely on one-hit kills. try a different shield perhaps?

about the guillaume's face...i put a cham rune in mine so i can go 2 angelics. i always cham the helm since i never switch it out for anything else.

My leech sure as hell has made a difference so far... and no most people I've went up against didn't hit me (or if they did it was unsubstantial, and leech recovered it), charge is pretty fast after all.

each angelic ring adds 12 ar per clvl. thats 12 BASE ar. at lvl 83 it would add 996 ar. if ur 149 turns into 1500, then the 996 would become 10027. that's unlikely tho, since lvl 20 zeal gives 200%ar, and lvl 20 fanat gives 135%. each angelic ring should add about 4333.

i don't think it was ur leech that made the difference. i think ur life tap triggered, which really shouldn't be happening since u're supposed to kill most of ur opponents in one hit.

edit: ok i just noticed that u have around 45% total life leech, which is a lot. it's possible for u to gain back up to ~160 of ur life back every hit. however, i doubt any char will do that little dmg to u, and ur high leech won't do u any good if u don't hit. the amount of leech u lose for using angelics is insignificant compared to the increased chance of hitting u'd get.
