umm i don't know if this is the rite place to ask this but i have to ask this question about the shield

the runes are easy to get i know

but is it hard to find a 4 sock monarch? cuz i need it to make this shield and wat shield do they use instead of monarch cuz i think monarch has too much str req for a sorc.. i know monarch is for defense but wat other shield is good besides monarch and is 4 sock?

Monarch would be best, it has a great block rating. Other than that I find Troll Nest to be alright. Monarchs aren't that hard to find in hell cows... rembmer a normal or superior one you can do the socet quest and get 4 soccets that way.

Best place to get a 4-socketed monarch is doing hell cows.

monarchs are the best 4 socket shield for it...troll nest would be but it can only have 3 sockets, which sucks...like everyone else said hell cows, 1 or 2 runs you should find one.

Monarch is the only shield wich can have 4 sockets exept for some paladin only shields.

The easyest way to get a 4 socket monarch is to fint a monarch without any sockets and make sure its black so runewords can be placed in later.
Then you take it to hell and use q1 in act5 to socket it.
If it had 0 socket, then it will be given the maximum amount of socket it can get, wich is 4.
Easy i must say.

the 4 soc monarc can pretty much be fouind any where in act 5 hell , I have foun d a few especually doing bot Baal runs with my Hammerdin

okay wait so wat u mean make sure its black?? and wen u do the quest in a5 it will gives its max socket?? won't it only give it one?? and if its only 1? can u do quests in previous difficulties to make it more?? like hell make it 1 sock then nm make it another sock then norm make another soc? i don't get it plz explain more!! thank u

When i checked some weeks ago, arreat summit sayd it only was monarch who had 4 sockets, but i see now it is 2 more shields.


When i say the text/name is black, then i mean its not:
-Blue (Magic)
-Green (Set)
-Yellow (Rare)
-Golden (Uniqe)
-Orange (Crafted)

Anyway, i have always socket my golden items in the socket quests so i never noticed it before, untill a member of my clan found it out and told me about it.
He sayd that q1 act5 give only 1 socket in normal and nightmare, but in hell it will give a non-socketed black item the maximum socket it can have, everytime.
It will not work on colored items, only black ones.
I never tested it myself, but i see no reason why he would lie to me.
Sometimes i have been in trade games, and people try to sell me etheral berserker axe`s with no sockets wich they tell me to use as BotD. When i put 1+1 together i guess it would be 2, right?

Any item NOT normal will receive only 1 socket from the socket quest.
All normal items have a 5/6 chance to receive the max sockets, and a 1/6 chance to receive 1(?) socket.

its based on the ilvl of the item. if u find a lvl 85 archon plate and u use the socket quest in normal.... it will get 4 sockets..... if u wanna be 100% sure it gets 4 sockets, do it in hell... if u get something like a sup archon plate with +580 def, u get risk socketing it in normal because it could get 3 or 4 sockets being a bonus either way for a nice enigma or a good fort...... but try socketing monarchs in nm or hell to be sure
