It was also the first system to allow for online gameplay (I believe), so they just made it that more exciting in the advances of gaming technology.
Actually the Sega Saturn had an adapter that plugged into the back to allow for online play. The Dreamcast was the first to have a built in modem, not to mention a modified version of Windows to run off of. I still think the Dreamcast was a very well put together system and still has some features that remain unique to it (A Windows OS and of course the VMU). Also I think the biggest downfall of the Dreamcast was it's early release. Sega should have improved on it more and waited for Nintendo or Sony to make the first move.

I think overall ps2 controllers are the norm for most games.

The norm? I think if anything the controllers that would be considered the "norm" would be the SNES controllers considering they started "L" and "R" buttons then the N64 with the Joystick. These controllers are far more familiar to me than any variation or even the original PS controllers. They are too straight and not curved for the shape of your hand, atleast for me. The control sticks are in a position too uncomfortable for me as well.

To throw in my opinion, while we're still chatting about controllers, the GC controller has to be the best one I've used. Fits in your hand, and isn't hard to use.

Maybe it's just that they turned the c-buttons into a c-joystick that it pisses me off...

Of all the consoles...I think ps2 has the greatest controller 'feel'...Im not implying the rest is shi.t...But i find ps/ps2's controller is easier to manuver[sp?]...
Ill say dreamcast is the worst for me...no offence..

After playing my xbox for awhile I have to say the xbox controller does feel best *If you have the smaller one* Not a fan of the c-joystick on the gc controller like spoon said and also i dont think it feels good at all. Ps2 is 2nd for me but i think its too small.
