We're all people at the end of the day. Let them do what they want. End of story.
#3
Exactly, why should the government or anyone have a say on who or what people like? Isn't it our right to like who we want? This is our life right not theirs?
#4
i guess im for gay rights...i mean...we give strait men and women rights...the fact that the goverment wants to stop gay rights shows that the government is based mainly on religion.

No reason gay men and women should not have the same rights and privalages as heterosexual men and women. The line dividing church and state is becoming far to blurred for my taste. Bush with his faith based iniatives and then him campaging against gay marriage rights. Its bullshit in my opnion. Just let the damn homosexuals go to a court house and get their marriage license.

So as long as the gays of the world stay inside or at least far away and out of sight from you you dont care what they do?

Your just two steps off from hating them all together and nearly as bad.

I'd have to agree completely with Sinner.

They deserve the same right's as far as I'm concerned and it seems rather idiotic that this discussion even has to be had. I mean it's doesent really seem all that different to me then telling an african american couple they can't marry because they are black.

If you want my opinion, I think that the issue is somewhat amusing. During the 70's it was deemed "uncool" for the homosexual community to consider marriage. Now it is seen as a crime that they don't have that right. Should they be allowed to get married? I honestly don't care what happens in the end. I think it's too much of a big deal anyhow, and I certainly don't think of this as a reason why religion is bad for the state. If people are going to start complaining about a secular state, understand that the only COMPLETELY secular nations in recent history have been North Korea, Stalinist Russia, and Nazi Germany.

I think I only argue that there is supposed to be a seperation of church and state, yet as of late the line has become so thin that a amoeba is larger then it.

Whats the point of giving people rights if they have to stay hidden away from everyone cause no ones wants to "see that"? Its like telling someone they can vote but they will get pursecuted if they actually come out and try and vote. It just defeats the purpose.

I thought todays society was about acceptance of others not "How can we hide this group of people away from everyone else?".

One thing I must defend the Gay community for is that these stereotypes about them are horribly wrong. Saying "as long as they don't hit on me" comes from the homophobes (some of whom are still questioning their own sexual preferance). I have had gay friends in the past and know gay people here in college. They do not "hit on" us straight people. So get that stupid fear out of your head. And if it remains, start listening to the Village People, because you are likely one of them...Wink

Very true! Hell even the transexuals dont hit on guys they know are straight and I know a bunch of them. (Dont ask cause its a long story and a rather boring one to boot) Some of the transgenders, do not know many of them, though really push it but for the most part the ones I have met do not run around hitting on anyone.

well if u dont let homosexuals marry then wat are they supposd to do? they arent gonna just go heterosexual. its pretty much like not letting heterosexuals marry too. just let them be. screw the goverment

i think the issue of marriage for homosexuals is redundant here
does the homosexual community really want to consider an option offered by religions that persecute them?
i offer the solution of having another civil union with the same rights offered by marriage. after all, what is marriage but the joining of two individuals in finance and hardships? anyone can get sex

Actualy, Quite a lot of homosexuals are christian. But you have a point, I wouldn't marry, Because im not exactly christian, But however, I agree that union is good. The other fact that most homosexuals unlike me dont see is, Would the church allow homosexual marriage?

I think that people complaining about the seperation of church and state is kind of stupid considering the contry's original laws and values were founded on Christian beliefs and our own stories and even our national anthem points to this. The country is a Christian state really whether you'd like to believe or allow it.

As for homosexuals I agree that a seperate union should be established for them as the very religions offering the bond of marriage may reject them. If it's their own seperate issue nobody can compain with good reason and it will even be their's to control.

I honestly don't see why and how the government turned this subject down. Let the people do what they want to do. It's not going to "hurt" the government anymore then it already is.

Those values are from a time far removed from the one we now live in. Its safe to say that while yes our founding fathers did a fine job in laying the ground work for our nation its rediculous for us, as a country, to continue to try and up hold the law according to religous standards. Towns are no longer built with a church in the town center. People are no longer hung, burned at the stake or otherwise killed because people think they are witches. Divorce is no longer seen as sinful, heck most churches will even give you an anullment. Now most people who get married are more likely to divorce their spouse and remarry then they are to die still married to their first husband and/or wife.

The bottom line is that was then this is now. In order to move forward as people we need to finally draw a bold line in the sand dividing the church from the state. If we continue to make and pass laws that are wholey(SP?) tainted by some religous virture we are doomed to come full circle to a time akin to that of the puritains.
