The news' biasness

dacougarmech Wrote:our nation is only as great as the government we boast. what does the world see us as if our own government ignores its own laws to wrongly persecute its own citizens?

and yes, i would rather live in a country where i can freely defend myself against threats rather than be opressed without any chance of reprisal

Then good luck finding one that is truly completely free. It doesn't exist, and tell me how you personally have been opressed? Oh and also if you were set to protect something that had just been attacked you'd be a bit paranoid as well.

did you read the article in the link i posted? do you think that was an action commited by the us government or by a few individuals?

i am trying to point out the fault in arresting two innocent girls, not trying to get in a flame war with you

Ouch, I need to clear something up with my post, Pyro, I meant 'something that doesn't happen on an every-day basis', not something that does. All apologies for not clearing this up earlier, and it made my argument sound retarded.

You are? You need to point out fault in arresting innocent people? I got some news for you...happens all the time. Innocent people receive the death penalty on occasion too we just never know because a jury said they were guilty.

I'm sorry did I say it wasn't the government? I said you can't judge the rest of us because of what others do. What they do they believe is in our best interest, or atleast for finances (Yes we're all greedy buggers). But they aren't being slaughtered are they? They were arrested...big whoop. You're telling me that innocent people spending a few nights in a cell is a reason to call off investigations?

Plain and simple after 9/11 I saw my entire view of life be changed by fear teachings and preachings of the end of days.

Honestly the U.S. got a big stick stuck up are *** and now we lead through fear, the church has done this since the Plague year's.
Democracy is now learning how to lead through these same tactics.

Were seeing the next stage of the human condition coming out to make an appearance.

No problem dude, just so long as everyone can understand my point-of-view on this.

What is wrong with society today that the only thing to get publicity is showing peoples family and friends dying on a daily basis? Even every once in a while they could plug in a slice of good news.

I want to know what other people think about these important shows caring only about ratings and not the community they report.

Showing the bad things is'nt bias, thats just the news they report.

Where I live, all we here is occassional bad news, other then that its gas prices, largest sandwich, largest hamburger, best toilet paper, etc.

You must live in a really small town, because here in cities we get all kinds of crap

Well it's true it's not being biased. Being biased would be only giving you one side of a story to make it look like something else, which they do but that's not what we're talking about. They just show what sells. How many of you sit and watch that squirrel water ski? And how many of you watch the car chase on the free way?

LOL The squirrel water ski was funny. I have to say Spoonman is correct on this. If they don't show something that sells, then they won't make money and they would have to shut down and I don't think anyone in the world would want to start a business and lose money.

Well to bring it to the original point, it is completely clear that the US news networks are massively, liberally, biased. It does not take a genius to figure that out. From what ive seen, all they do is air what goes wrong and blame it on the US and the President. If you want some actual trustworthy information, i recommend browsing online political blog rings.

The statement was made that we are living in increasingly dangerous times.

I am not sure I agree.

People are living longer on average. You might claim murder rates are up, but not if you take into account Stalin and Hitler's genocides. Or the Trail of Tears if you are a fan of the American genocide.

Iraq may suck, but as far as wars go, it has been a particularly effectively run war from the US standpoint. By comparison there have been fewer fatalities on either side than every US war except the Spanish American (to which it bares a striking resemblance except in that war, the irresponsible American press started and encouraged the war instead of defaming it).
