Damage in PVP
#1
I know the damage done by melee attacks is cut to 1/8 (or 1/6?)

I now have 2 questions:

Does this also apply to Sorc spells etc.

And does this apply to a druids' Tornado?

Im not 100% sure but I believe that just in general PVP has the dmg penalty....Im not totally sure..

Of course it does, blizz does 14k, do you think anyone has that much life? Same with hammers with 10-13k. Druid dmg is physical.

Ok, ty, then I can survive Blizz hits easily xD

all dmg is cut into 1/6..... EXCEPT psn. psn is only reduced up to 95% by a persons resistance. and no, blizzard sorcs usually have a dozen pts into mastery too.

But I have cyclone armor, that can stop a blizzard xD

Not for long, Even people with 95% resist and 2 raven frost can have problems with blizzard if the user is good. Blizzard is the strongest attack in the game i would say. Runner up is BH. There is a reason blizzard made blizzard best xD

Yes..everything has a penalty, to make the game, fair. If a FB sorc god comes in a game with a 75k fireball, you'd die everytime, resists/absorb/DR. Don't matter, but with penalty you might be able to survive a FB or 2Big Grin

@Keitaro: no blizz is not the strongest attack in the game... meteor is (i kno it's fricking slow)

Traps, and all minions etc. have a 0.5 penalty, compared to the normal 0.17 for players (note, the actual modifier is actually 0.17, 1/6th is just an aproximation).

I belive you forget about cold mastery wich is the elite version are extremly strong, and do with no problem compare to the fire mastery.

blizzard is strong
but even to slow
same as traps, a good barb can kill a blizzardsorc/trap assa, just keep mooving, and s you might know, barbs are fast...

I dunno ab you guys, but I haven't seen too many Fb'ers carrying around a 75K fireball, I dunno if its just me, but my sorc had torch 9x fire gcs anni and all the right gear and her fb was less than 30k, So im wondering how the heck u got a 75k fireball

Secondly, I highly doubt Blizzard is the strongest attack in game, tho delayed A low lvl meteor conquers blizz in damage even tho the attack is slower...

I don't like how slow Blizzard is. I'm a lot more worried about the FBers with insane fcr. That's just me though. I'm sure a good Blizz Sorc would cut through me in seconds.

Also, I think that one of the previous poster means by Blizzard being the most powerful attack is that combined with a souped up Cold Mastery, it owns. At Level 20, Cold Mastery already reduces Cold Resist by 100.

I'm going to just think up a Cold Sorc right now.
Helm: Shako (5/5 Facet or Um'd)
Armor: CoH (5/5 Facet or Um'd) OR that new runeword with PulRalSol.
Amulet: +3 Cold Skill/Fcr/Resists OR Maras
Weapon 1: Heart of the Oak OR +3 Eschuta's (5/5 facet)
Shield 1: Spirit Monarch OR 20/20 Monarch (personal preference)
Weapon 2: Call to Arms
Shield 2: Spirit Monarch
Belt: Arach
Rings: 2x SoJ
Gloves: Trang OR Magefists
Boots: Waterwalk

Merc
Weapon: Eth CV Infinity
Armor: Fortitude Hellforge Plate OR Up'd Shaft
Helm: Andy's

In inventory, there should be 9x Cold Skill Gcs, 1x Cold Sorc Hellfire, 1x Anni, and 10x 20 life scs.

Depending on which shield you use you could have up to +28 to skills and +29 when you Battle Command/Battle Orders (Level 49 Blizz and Synergies). With that same build, you can have up to 10/10 Cold Skill and 15/15 if you have the Eschuta's on. If you used the Facet'd shield, you can have 45/45.

Alright, now let's say you chose the Eschuta's and Spirit Monarch. That would give you +29 (after BC) and 15/15. Combine that 15/15 with a Level 49 Cold Mastery (I think that's -245 Enemy Cold Resistance). With the facets, just add -15 (-260). Finally, put Conviction into play from merc. Now you're good to go.

I'm not sure how much damage Blizzard would do at that point, but I can guarantee that it would most definitely hurt even with Cyclone Armor, Dual Ravens, and any other Cold Absorb gear.

Sadly enough though, I can't afford this kind of gear on Ladder so I'll have to wait til stuff gets cheaper Sad .

Its stupid to duel with a merc, they die too easily, and most dueling rules say its illegal to use a merc. But if you dont care about rules then go ahead and use it.

True. But the hypothetical build would still be able to kill regardless of whether it has a merc or not. It would still have the -260 to enemy cold resists. The Conviction would've just helped.
