An Uber-Fighting Druid? Rate my Build
#1
Not many builds can really solo Uber Trist without dying... only two come to mind; Smiters and Zealers.

With a Smiter it's kinda win or lose.. you either cast lifetap and kill them or you don't, and you die... and with Zealers it can really go either way. I've been trying to find another build that can solo Uber Trist without being completely dependant on one event happening, such as lifetap or whatever...

Also, if any other builds are possible they might be better than a Smiter to use on Hardcore. Also, this build is far cheaper to make on non-ladder, unlike a Smiter. Much of the (good) Smiter gear is ladder-only (even though you can get ladder-only items on NL, it's expensive as hell and once you get ahold of the gear you'd want to hang onto it, and it's not fun to be limited in trading or whatever.. some people will understand what I mean).
So tell me what you all think about this druid build... I'll add a poll on it as well.
And I apologize if it's a little messed up in some parts; wrote it in notepad and pasted onto here.

This is just a basic Werewolf Druid with lots of life leach... It is by far not a new build or anything but I know nobody has recognized it as being able to fight Ubers.

Skills____________________________________________________________

Max First:

(Most important Shapeshifting skills that we'll be using)

Werewolf: 20
<<< Get a point into Cyclone Armor sometime during the maxing of these skills.
Lycanthropy: 20

Max Second:

(Your main attack)

Fury: 20

Max Last:

(To improve yourself or just keep you alive)

Heart of Wolverine: 20

Feral Rage: 20

(+Skill items will make these adequate. 5 Spirit Wolves are a really good meat shield that covers an area to keep things off your back, while the point into Bear and Dire Wolves will buff them up with the +skills. The Carrion Vine acts as a meat shield as well as helps out a bit in keeping you alive and the rare occasion when destroying bodies is helpful, or just comical)

Raven: 1

Spirit Wolf: 1

Poison Creeper: 1

Bear: 1

Dire Wolves: 1

Carrion Vine: 1

Stat Points________________________________________________________

Strength: As little as possible to use items. Should be no more than 100 or so.
Dexterity: As little as possible to get a 75% block rate with your shield. Mouse-over your defense to see your block rate (it isn't what it says on your shield).

Vitality: Everything else goes here after getting enough DEX/STR. At least 300.

Energy: None, as with all builds.

Items____________________________________________________________

You are, as with any build, dependant on items, but not so much as a Smiter or other build. This build allows for
some customizability while still remaining good, even if not successful at fighting the Uber Bosses in Uber Trist.

Helmet: Cerebrus' Bite - Gives 10% Life leach, +4 to Shapeshifting skills, increased attack speed and more. What more can you ask for?

Alternate Helmate: Andariel's Visage - Lesser version of Cerebrus' Bite.

Armor: Fortitude - Lots of damage = more leach. Trust me, I did the math, it's better than using CoH. You leach more even with 8% less leach because you do more damage.

Alternate Armor: Chains of Honor - Gives resists, 8% life leach, +2 to all skills and more.

Weapon: (Ethereal) Breath of the Dying (Berserker Axe) - The best life leaching weapon that comes to mind. 15% life leach, fairly high damage, very fast and other mods.

Alternate Weapon: Bloodmoon - 15% life leach, 50% chance of open wounds. Pretty fast, as well. Fair alternative.

Shield: Stormshield - 35% damage reduction, great block rate, resists, +30 strength and more.

Alternate Shield: Medusa's Gaze - 9% life leach, a truckload of cold resistance (if you get a high one; max is +80%), slows target by 20%, +22 vitality and other great mods.

Gloves: Dracul's Vampirebone - 10% life stolen per hit, some increased attack speed and other great mods.

Boots: Gore Rider - Give lots of crushing blow, open wounds and deadly strike. No explanation is needed.

Amulet: The Eye of Etlich - Gives 7% life stolen per hit as well as +1 to all skills.

Ring 1: Carrion Wind - Gives 9% life leach and a ton of poison resistance.

Ring 2: Carrion Wind - Gives 9% life leach and a ton of poison resistance.

Belt: String of Ears - Gives 8% life stolen per hit as well as 15% damage reduction. Nice.

Items on Switch:

Weapon: Call to Arms - Battle Orders and Battle Cry.

Shield: Spirit - +2 all skills (higher BO and BC).

Alternate Shield: The Lidless Eye - +1 all skills (same reason).

Inventory_________________________________________________________

2 Tomes of Town Portal. I stress this. Unless you have mad GCs and you can't fit these into your inventory, for the love of all that is good in the world KEEP THEM WITH YOU! It is an annoyance, at least ,when someone gives you the "no TPs" excuse in a game. Restock them after entering and before leaving every game.

1 Tome of Identify. Saves you trips back to town to identify items instead of carrying them just to find out they're junk. It sucks when you can't pick up that Shako because you can't identify what turns out to be some shitty item.

1 Annihilus. Resists, attributes, +1 to all skills.

1 Torch. Resists, attirbutes, +3 to all Druid skills.

As many Shapeshifting and Elemental grand charms as you can get.

Any small poison charms you can get at or above 50 poison damage.

Any large poison charms you can get at or above 100 poison damage.

Any grand poison charms you can get at or above 150 poison damage.

Any small charms with +7% or more to any one resist.

Any small charms with any percent added to all resists.

If you find any charms with a bit lesser mods but that has two, for example a small charm that does 40 poison damage and has 5% lightning resist, keep it.

You'll be leaching a lot if you use all of the gear I listed; enough to fully heal you with 3 out of the 5 hits that Fury does once every second or so.

I know this build is nowhere near unique but I haven't seen an updated one in awhile and I wanted to bring it to light with some of the newer gear...

Tell me what you think.

i would go with the botdzerker, cerberus bite, but id get a different ammy other then etlitch, perhaps maras? highlords? and your string is pretty low u can get a 15/15 reduced ddmg string i have a 6/15/15 =) gloves are good steelrends would be good too but i think you need the chance of lite tao and some more leech its a pretty good overall build.
#3
I got a 8/13... and this build needs the leach and +skills; The Etlich is important. Tongue

Have you seen a Werewolf Druid with even 20% leach? Imagine this one with more than 50%...

Haven't been online so I haven't had the chance to try this build out...

My Smiter is incredably boring so I'd like to hurry up and make this build -.-
#4
i see one little problem...correct me if i am wrong but i dont think you can leech from ubers
#5
Why wouldn't you be able to? They aren't undead, they're demons.
#6
i dont know, i just thought i read that somewhere...maybe i am getting 'smite doesnt leech' confused with this
#7
It's possible... also, leaching depends on how much damage you do, and with only 4k max damage (all the leaches cost you some damage) will you do enough to leach enough life to keep you alive when fighting the Ubers?

And I wonder if the attack rating from Angelic's will be needed...
#8
yea you can leech the ubers...when my zealer was attcking b4 life tap kicked in i was gaining health per hit so yea u can life leech them, nice build by the way.

#9
um am i wrong or reading it wrong but string of ears doesnt give 1 to skills :S but other then that nice build and i think id rather use Nosferatu's Coil not sure if u guys would or not but just an idea .
#10
no your right beaver string of ears doesnt give +1 skills i think the only belt with +1 to all skills would be the arachnis mesh
#11
Hmm I dunno why I put that then...

I'll fix that. I must've been thinking it did give +1 skills Tongue thanks

edit: Naaah. String of Ears is still the best; It has the most life leach and the best DR of any of the belts. 10% IAS isn't as important to this particular build as the leaches...

What concerns me is the AR. I realized earlier (me being used to a smiter) that without Angelics rings and amulet this build might not have enough AR... what do you guys think?

I plan on using Heart of Wolverine for more damage and more AR, though (more damage=more leach, and it gives IAS too, I think). So, will I need the Angelics? Using two Angelic rings and the amulet takes away 25% of my leach and +1 skill, as well as something like 100% poison resist.

edit: Tried this build on Single Player... ownage Tongue.

I'd like to try him in Uber Trist on SP. Anyone have the item files of the Body Parts or Keys? I tried to make them via the body parts with Hero Editor but it only gives me something that turns into a mana potion which is called An Evil Force...

If anyone has a Medusa Gaze on USEast/NL/SC I'd appreciate it too lol

edit: I fixed the reccomended armor. Fortitude is much better.

Is Grief better than eBoTDz for leaching/Fury?
#12
well i jsut think this is a poor mans wh to kill ubers. You cant key hunt very well with this build. My smiter on switch uses a 35 spirit and hoto to tele to keys. ( besides cta of course) Ur druid would have to run it and thats a pain in the ***. Also u wont hit even close to as much as u think u will. Anoher uber build is a conc barb and is faster then smiter IF u have like 20k-50k ar. wich is hard to hit :/ so i think u should just stick to ur smiter.
#13
whats with people reviving month old threads??

and its not a poor mans build.. just for some1 who wants a more difficult challenge.
#14
ya but i agree with him smiters aren't too exciting after a while and that druid looks crazy fun to play with. but i think that if you use the cat's eye ammy it would be alot better than eye of the eldritch (20% faster walk/run & 30% increased attack speed, would really help). But yes i think its possible for this druid to solo the ubers. It might just take a while if u miss more then you though you would have. : / I think you should max oak sage too.
#15
Ok i made this build cuz i wanted to see if it would work. I switched BOTD for Beast because it has 20CB and 25 Deadly strike. Also the weapon has 40ias so u get second to last attack breakpoint. Botd DOES attack faster but because of the lack of CB and DS it takes longer to kill the ubers. Also im still not sure if Fortitude or Coh is better But when using fortitude i have to use Jalals so i get max resists. Besides that its a pretty good build. Even though a Conc barb WILL do it faster. But the problem i hqave with beast is the Lower durability and how fast it damages. So i have to repair inbetween bosses Sad gg build though
#16
I dont think its a good build for it.. Doesnt look like it would have alot of health to do it solo.. but its worth a try lol
#17
I Have sc that have 175psn dmg and 100psn dmg so if u filled ur inventory with these and bramble u would be doing alot more dmg. i added and if u fill whole inventory with 175psn sc its about 7k!!!!!!
#18
1. There is no 7% all ress sc.
2. I would use highlords for ias, light res, ds, and +1 skill.
3. You CANNOT leech without life tap. It's not possible.
#19
I have a druid build similar to this just no feral rage or w/e, PvP its really hard against smiters and all because the chance of hitting them is just to low... PvM is easy but i find that lack of health and defence makes us not aloud to do ubers although i havent fully tested solo... instead of shield and all that i chose ebotd thunder maul... dmg is very nice, shield may own u but i think the extra dmg is worth it
#20
nice job vizari...way to post 5 months too late
