Need some help with my ping.

my comp's ping is high...Most prolly cos of the proxy im behind...

Anyone knows how to get rid of it?I took it away in internet tools..

Are you using a router? And by ping, do you mean during gameplay? Cause changing that in IE would have no effect on your ping in gaming, unless you tell it to use IE's settings. You would need to change it in the game itself.

I played some server in c/s and i was laggin bad and my ping was at like 4k does that man the server was far away cuase i switch to the san jose sever close to me and i have 200ping and no lagg the only time i get lagg is when i leave my comp on all day.

Or the server was slow, but unless everyone was lagging then probably it was far away.

yeah i think everyone was kinda lagging well my freind was running dsl and he was lagging so yeah.

It was probably just a bad server then. Also, if someone has a ping of 0, that means they are playing on the server, which usually causes more lag for everyone else.

wow i want to make my own server but it cost money i think to host. i was thinking i would have less ping that way.
but yeah i changed my dial up number i think it made it worse so i changed it back.cant wait for dsl.

If you have a fast enought internet connection you can just run the server from your house, but you'd need something like good cable or better (like a college LAN), DSL probably wouldn't cut it.

yeah I dont need to make a server but my freind has dsl and he runs at like 20ping so i am going to try to get dsl this weekend thank;s for your info
