ok well when I had my smiter and I was baaling i would use conviction + torch and I i had no problem killing physical imunes cuase the conviction would lower there res and the firestorm from torch would take them out as far as the the other magic imunes you have no problem but conviction + torch = no more phy imunes. try it works real nice.

well def is nice cuase you get the defiance aura which raises your and merc's def.. but although holyfrezze is nice. I would say if you using stone etc your merc should have enough def without aura so you can always try holy freeze if you dont like it buy new merc.. but make sure you remove items from him lol.. but that would be agood set up for merc what you have posted there.. although i always used ebotd pike. you can always try eth fort too if you can afford it.

would conviction make a cold immune for exampleno lomger immune. Because when i use lower resistance in nm it would say fire immune for example but when i cast lower resistance it wouild go away. But when i cast lower resistance in hell, the fire immune didn't disappear from the monster.

basically immune means tyhey have more than 100% resitence usually about 150% . Take conviction and lower the resitence of the monster below 100% they are no longer immune to that element. -res does not work only lower resist curse and conviction.

ok monster that r immune doesnt have 100 resist they can have over that so if ur aura lowers it by 70 and monster had 120 then u break immune cuz its under 100, if urs lower is by 19 then monster would have 101 which means still immune..... and my merc setup is eth shaft um'd, gaze 15 ias, and CA infinity eth works good if u want merc to tank.....

from arreat summit

lower resist and conviction - when breaking an immunity, will function at 1/5 effectiveness.

so if you cast lower resist and it lowers res by 60 it nly lowers res by 12???

Conviction and/or Lower Resist reduces the monsters resistance so therefor they aren't immune to it. If you have Conviction on your mercenary you should be able to kill lightning immunes.

ya i think something like that.... if a monster is 120 fire and u have 150 conviction then breaking the immune ur conviction then it would only lower it by 30 so monster would be 90 fire resist i think thats how it works.....

Well according to Arreat Summit, conviction or cold mastery or whatever else works with 1/5 efficiency when breaking an immunity. Which seems accurate from having used it against the monsters. I don't think immunity even has a res % - for instance, the ubers all have one res that is over 100 and none of them say that they are. I mean, try hurting Lilith with poison damage - send me a post card (and my necro had 4x p facets on).

nono, cold mastery and -psn resist on items dont work on immunities, only conviction and lower resist, and at the 1/5 penalty, until the resist goes below 100. but problem is, lilith has prob 150 psn res, so you wont be doing dmg till you get it below 100, and at 90 psn res, you only doing 10% poison dmg.

all because andy has that kind of resist, as i remember watching it with c3po back in the day and as i use conviction, watch the resist go down, but some monsters have some 100-110-150-220 etc and those walls and towers in act 5 that are psn immune have about 1000 psn res.

but fact is cold mastery and items that have pierce elements dont reduce immunities, only non immunes.
