life in outer space

Siris Wrote:i read some1 suggested that they have solar power... now solar power makes electricity and u can power a ship with that but u cant co anywhere...unless electricity is combustable...
that's what i was going to lead into. you can go anywhere in space without fuel because burning that fuel pushes the explosion out one direction and since every action has an equal and opposite reaction, it in turn will push you in the opposite direction of that explosion. i think that the only reason solar energy is needed in space is to provide the energy to start up those reactions for a burn

as someone already pointed out, the problem with traveling through space without fuel is that eventually you will get pulled into something's (a star, planet, etc) gravity and crash into it

the brown dwarf theory i referred to earlier is a theory that our sun has a twin star that is a brown dwarf. it is very small and dense and has a very irregular and long orbit through the solar system. in the theory it is speculated that our asteroid belt was once a planet that got too close to the brown dwarf and was ripped apart by its gravity. another theory that goes along with this theory is that pluto was once a moon of neptune that got pulled away by the brown dwarf into its own weird orbit.

scientists speculate that the reason we havent been able to actually detect the star is that its currently out past pluto somewhere and i guess brown dwarfs are hard to detect since they are small and dont give off a whole lot of energy

i heard this theory about like 7 years ago, so it may have already been disproved. but nonetheless, i personally find it very interesting

honestly i think most scientists are full of shit.. they just make some shit based of some fact or aspect then throw that theory out there to make a name for themselves.. i mean comon some of the theories are total bull shit.....
im sorry but a brown warf thats a twin star to the sun...let alone a brown dwarf itself.....

i do believe that brown dwarfs have been proven to exsist in the galaxy...

Additional Comment:
and do you have any logical arguments against the theory? or just that 'scientists are full of shit and want to make a name for themselves'?

no i dont have proof but ... i dont know .. does it sound right???
i just did a google search on them and they dont have proof that they do.. its just something that they say.
i didnt mean bad when i said it and now that i read my own post i see that it can come off like i did.let me ask u does it sound good and logical?

it does sound logical to me except for the fact that if it is really there it should have been detected by now. anyways, i just put it out there since i find it interesting and thought other people might too. something to think about

so just to explore this they call it a brown dwarf because the star lets off brown fire?

no, its called a brown dwarf because it is brown, well more likely black. and that would be what makes it hard to find i guess. brown dwarfs are actually stars that have already burnt out. so they dont really give off any light. basically i think they supernova then shrink down very rapidly until they are super dense

and thus the high gravity..so they are like half way to a black hole?

I know there is somekind of creature on some big fat planet but its so far away from our sun, they will need there own sun.
So i think that if we find another sun we will find creatures on another planet.

wow did u think that up by urself or did ur mother help you?....
im sry that was really rude.."but if we find another sun"....u do know the sun is a star right? nd that there are plenty more stars?

....
I mean a BIG damn star that can provide enough light and heat for a whole planet you "stuff i cant say here"! Do you realy think the normal stars can provide a whole planet?
And yes i know there are planty more stars out there but have we found any as big as our sun ? = NO!

If scientists cant detect Brown Dwarf's, then how is it proven they exist?

And I hate how Scientists use theyre fancy lingo shit, Why dont they call it.. A Burnt out Star... Yeah.. That works...

Ok Imma prolly state the obvisous here so here:

Our Solar system is apart of a little piece of our Milky Way Galaxy, now in our milky way galaxy there are millions of other solar systems that may have life on them. Scientist have seen through telescpose other planets in other solar systems. Ok now we have our Galaxy in the Universe, but there are much more galaxies in the Universe that have millions of Solar Systems which im pretty damn sure have life.

OK now with stars, Stars form from a Stellar Nursery and can either turn into a Sun like Stars, Huge stars and Giant stars. Sun like Stars turn into a Red giants and form in Planetary Nebula and then form into white dwarf then black dwarf. Huge stars and Giant Stars turn into a Red Super Giant which Sopernovas and can either turn into a Nuetron Star or a Black Hole.

Black holes have massive amounts of pressures in it , it nearly impossible to have something man made go threw it. ( Maybe like 20 years from now) If something manages to get threw and past a black hole the object will probally get stuck in the place its in.

I think we can use a Pulsar for energy in outer space I mean its a rapidly spinning nuetron star that emits energy in pulses. =D

soo yeah thats my little lesson. =D

Our sun is tiny in comparison to other stars in the galaxy. Like... Our sun is like Earth up next to Jupiter compared to the Red Giants or blue stars.

yes actually there are billions and billions as big as and bigger , theres hotter and colder... what really makes a star a sun is if it has planets orbiting around it...which there are billions more solar systems...this help?

and dude stop flaming me..im sry but its just the way u talk and post it sounds like u absolutely know nothng about wht ur talking bout...if u wish to give me further insults dont post them here...this is not flame wars

Tahu Wrote:Can't they make them nucular powered? That would give like over 1000 years of fuel.

that would give it 20,000 years of power as that's the halflife of nuclear fission

an object in space moves with the pull of the other planets gravity, and the inertia makes the object move, becuz theres no friction in space to stop the object

i dunno if any one suggested this but for powering a ship, y not use solar wind sails
or even a laser engine
about life in outer space well i have 2 things to say to that

1. were are the olny life froms in existance due to a massive fluke when a metor or asteroid hit the earth
and
2. there is life out there watching and studing us "primitive beings" and also the fact that 1 is just plain stupid

and i dunno if any have read or heard this b4 but from an article from multiple sources that there is a "massive cloud" in space that is destroying planets and solar systems in it's path, scientests say that its coming in our direction and will destroy this system in like the year 2020
i most likly kno that this is some lame ass BS but you never kno ;p

eh i say if a meteor or cloud or whatever comes to destroy us, we must know last minute.. because alot of things have been said and hasn't happened, thats to much anticipation.
