life in outer space

mathalamus-a Wrote:no i meant pluto in the red sun days ..it might go to -20 max
mars will get hotter and hotter thus mercury type no atmosphere

i have a huge head ache so stop teasing me

hey the points went up

If the Sun turns into a red giant, I think it would cool down instead of heat up. Stars are rated on a scale where red is the coolest and blue is the hottest. Yellow is somewhere inbetween.

And Mercury doesn't have an atmosphere because it's so small, not because of the temperature.

Bloodangel26 Wrote:because it is huge for a planet. its not that dense, but it has a hell of a lot of mass. mass is what gives gravity. high density usually means high mass, but not always. so high density usually means high gravity, but not always
actually yes alwys if it is high density it always has high gravity becuse there is a lot of mass in a small space...
but
just because and object my have low density it still my have a lot of gravity if the object is huge
jupiter is hella large even though it has low density it still havs the mass to have the large gravity becuse it is so big

to make this simple for u just imagine i have 2 rocks that have the same mass. 1 rock is a large boulder and the other is a small pebble. since i said that they have the same mass they have the same gravitational pull. but for them to have the sme mass it means that the pebble would be very very dense will the boulder would have a low density. which would explain y jupiter has a high gravitational pull.

a side note would be that the gravitational pull actually depends on the to objects that are pulling on each other

yes everything that has mass has gravity. even you or me have gravity, but in an EXTREMELY SMALL amount ofcourse. but about actual life in outer space, well idk how that would be. boring i guess. and when you run outta oxygen/food that would suck lol.

i think that yellow is the third colour away from red but even if it is red there's no assuace that it will make a new earth there is always the chance it will go dwarf
like it matters it teakes like 8 minutes to reach us so we dont even kno how fast a supernova moves at we could be dead b4 we noticed that it happend

space has two many unknows i wonder how long it would take to just understand most of it, all our thories could be all wrong
nuclear fission powered is a nice idea but things could go wrong very fast and very easy so it would be stupid untill it actually becomes "safer" if thats even damn possable

unless there is a new kind of space propelant (ie combustion) we are stuck with something that explodes us in 1 direction...if there was another kind by then we would have hyder fission

also by the time the sun cools to a red star he will be long long dead

how about the ion drive? nasa is currently reserching it. a supernova depends might go at speed of sound or light

they also have a plama engine in the works as well including the solar wind sails
but i think will we be a ****ing long time b4 we can actually trek space , and mostlikely even longer to do it safely

ive read that supernovas expand stars verrrrry quickly. i think their expansion is measured in seconds

that may be but it wont happen for a hella long time

the sun wont run out of hydrogen to brun for 500,000,000,000 years so by then we will have either figured out how to do survive somewhere else or have killed eachother completely. i mean, think how far we got in 2000years never mind 500,000,000,000 years. I'm an athiest, but i know somewhere in the bible it says something about humans inhabiting the universe i dunno is all bs...

that number's ridiculous. the universe has only been around for 6 billion
call me pessimistic but im pretty sure that eventually, we'll go extinct due to nuclear warfare or some future version of weapons of mass destruction, such as biochemical weapons

I agree. People can't resist the urge to take from others and give nothing in return, and nothing good can ever come out of that.

i think the only way a utopia is possible is through mental conditioning, free rations of chemically induced euphoria, and extreme police action. not really a utopia though. a dystopia
anyone else read Brave New World?

my teacher said the sun has 500billion years left before it burns out. But I read, only a few billion(i think it was either 2 or 6 pretty sure 2) years ago was the sun actually hot enough to support life here on earth. a sun also continues to grow denser so the sun will become denser through those 500billion years.

denser? in 2 billion years our sun will be a large neutron star?? haha our sun will blow up putting earth in hell 4 a while than its dust. humans will be extinc my something other than wepons.. like a comet or a race blowing our planet or a uncurible virus or some radical climate change etc..

your teacher is on crack because if that were true then every star that exists now is made of brand new material created in the big bang, which was only 6 billion years ago

oh? and tell me where all the matter to make the sun denser is coming from... the sun is not getting denser...because matter cannot be created....

mathalamus-a Wrote:denser? in 2 billion years our sun will be a large neutron star??
if something did get denser it would not expand...hence getting denser... to expain if u dont understand - u add mass to something for it to get denser or expand not both.

no offence if ur an antsist or somthing but the big bang was 13.7 billiobnyears ago and if the sun went to a red gaint and for some reason it reverted to a yellow star like now where whold the extra stuff go? to fuel for another 5 billion years??
