Well If I had time to check it out, I would understand lol. I am just hoping my arguement with BloodAngel26 is done because it's so much fun but I need some sleep for a tournament tommorow and like 2 projects lol.

I did not mean for you to interpret that Canada pays all the US' bills and gets them out of shit, I mean we are like that little brother that helps support your fat lazy ass. Canada trades with the US quite cheap, seeing as how we could be making such a larger profit on things such as lumber, oil, mined minerals, etc. Sure, the US has their own oil fields, to bad most of them are in the middle east...
Well, any patriot would say the same about his own country.
Canada is able to trade with us easier than anyone else due to NAFTA. Look if up if you don't know what it stands for. If the US would stop worrying about the ****ing wild animals up in Alaska we wouldn't have to import so much damned oil.

Did your history teacher feed you that bullshit too?

Actually I figured that out on my own Big Grin lol. Just from some things I've heard people argue on the internet somewheres like 2 years ago.

Also, I don't think he feeds me bullshit. Everything he says makes sense and he backs it up, he is also the Canadian history teacher, and he teaches mostly Grade 12 courses except my History 112, so if he was teaching false things, then the student that graduate from our school would never make it through any history course. I ust figured I could trust him since I personally know 2 people who had him and teachers and are taking their majors in history, and they are doing fine.

Also the fact that he has travelled so far just to see certain sites and battle fields, he has read a LOT of history books, and he collects WWI and WWII items.

(Off Topic really... but)He got a full set of WWII Canadian gear, uniform, gun, even a flask-type thing to drink from from some guy at an auction in Ottowa or somewheres like that for 200$. In his classroom itself, there is 1/2 a German uniform, 3 helmets (2x WWII 1x WWI, 1 WWII is German from early on, other 2 are Canadian), then other stuff like a French Cannon ball, an illegal piece of rock taken from somewheres in France (I forget name), all that shit and I think it's pretty cool.

Just because I try to defend Canada, now everyone hates me Sad My point in the beginning was China was rising to power, and we ended up in a debate over Canadas usefulness vs American's usefulness in WWI and WWII lol. Wow...

Mitch... Vietnam was a disaster. Even though we had the power to ****ing destroy the Cong and win easily, we were afraid to bomb where the Cong stationed at because they stayed just inside the border of Laos and Cambodia and of course we didn't want to hurt their feelings. Plus they used tunnels, we carpet bombed like every square inch there but we couldn't get the guys that far down in the tunnels. We really did lose technically (After all S. Vietnam surrendered and all those countries like Laos and Cambodia became communist), but we just say it wasn't a war so we can keep our perfect winning streak in wars.

Thank you fuggle

EDIT: I feel what I said was a little harsh... I don't like being mean.

I think it makes the most sense that all North Americans would want Canada to become the next superpower.

Despite what I said above, I believe that China will be the next superpower.

I know it was a disaster, dude. I was referring to the part about him believing we think it as a victory somehow.

I agree. It's important that we hunt and kill the vast array of wildlife that roam around the permafrost (i mean it's teeming with life, almost like a Brazilian jungle up there). We need to harvest the oil from these animals en masse becuase we need every last drop to power our fleet of suburbans. To harvest Alaska oil you have to dig a well around two miles deep and throw all those dead animals in it, and then fill it with dirt again. We will then wait however million years it takes for the pressure and heat to build up and turn the Karibou, misquitos, and um.. whatever other wildlife into that precious black gold. Bingo, slap a drilling station on it and we are in buisness, baby.

But seriously, WTF do animals have to do with drilling? You put a handful of drilling complexes (roughly one square mile for each) and get an little economy going among the MILLIONS of square miles of tundra. Have you ever been to north Alaska? Its a whole lot of permafrost, you know, where the top six inches of ground only grow grass becuase everything beneath it remains frozen solid all year? Yes there are herds of Karibou (sp?) roaming around, and I laugh when the enviromentalists say drilling stations 'disorient' them. What? I guess there is something about a drilling outpost that differs wildly from the thousands of towns and cities all over the world that *don't* disorient wildlife.

Alternate fuels are in the future, but right now all the technologies are a ways off. The problem is implimentation and cost effectiveness. Honestly when I'm at the pump and have the option of getting gas at 2.50, or getting ethnol/gasoline blend for 3.15 it's no decision at all.
Reply
ah yes, excellent point. however, the implications for this could be beyond our scope of knowledge. say the karibou goes extinct, not a big deal right? but what about everything else that depends on the karibou, the predetors and humans that use it as food? plus there really is no difinite amount of oil under alaska. all of those are estimates. also drilling would destory many other things. if this happened, it would just be supporting gas again. President Bush this year in his state of the union said we need to kick to oil. how can we do that if we are looking for it? also, global warming is happening. this drilling will just add to the global warming. if you dont believe me on global warming then search for it on the internet, TIME just did a recent report on it. just this week in fact.

on the fact of global warming america will be ****ed since all or most costal cities will be flooded for good and well dutch will be nice in dry sighing and saying " the stupid americans didnt plan ahead" (:p or some along the line)
america is one of the largest contributers to global warming and drilling for more oil is idiotic at this point we are running out and if we continue on this path well we will lose all the oil ****ing over a massive ammount of people from workers to industries dependant on oil to keep machinery moving smoothly so to all crasy eco freeks KEEP OF THE GOOD WORK and chain urself to some karabu to keep bush from drilling alaska

general effect of global warming [Image: 11323289073795wp.gif] lol

Extinct from what? karibou isn't the #1 food source for Alaskans, and drilling for oil won't change that. I'm sure they pick up beef and canned food at the local food store just like everyone else.

As for global warming.. What a freggin buzzword. I won't say pollution doesn't exist, but I don't think it does on a scale that will melt icecaps. I think it's just a natrual process of climates changing. Theorists say there was often a period of global warmth before the iceage. It's all just scare tactics by the media. Your too fat, sex will kill you, don't drive your car etc etc.. If we listened to all this foolishness we'd be living in caves and eating raw meat. Or raw vegetables, becuase of Mad Cow Disease.

And venom.. WTF are you talking about? I'm sure the Dutch planned ahead when the settled in the asscrack of europe, becuase they just *knew* hundreds of years ago that costal cities are F'd.. C'mon, get real.

Can anyone tell me how much sea levels have rose in the last 100 years, or at least twenty? Isn't it like 1 cm or something? Not really a big deal right now.
Reply
if the polar icecaps do melt the water will rise 1-5 FEET around the world so a single cm is alot since thats world wide u kno
Reply
yup.. lol, it isnt just a single center in one place. lol..
look at satelite images of glaciers and other ice sheets, and you tell me if there isnt global warming. look at one from like 1975, and 2000 of something like that... it is too obvious that stuff has melted. and it wont just raise 1-5 feet.. we are talking about 5-10 feet. thats enough to flood many places

i agree with none of the poll options... Australia should be

although we dont have the people we have the technology. besides that australians are usually very intelligent / smart

i am not saying this because im australian but because we wouldnt do stupid things not mentioning anything...laugh:.

also we would be the least likely to use the power... you think about it the us does w/e they feel like. china would do something probally become supreme rulers of korea or something. canada would be the most likely be be australian like and i forgot the other poll optionsBig Grin
