one word, safer.

its not realy safer, its just the fact that when it came out, coders didn't think it would gain such status and didn't do much with it, now they do.
Its faster, thats about it.

I don't see why you would not try firefox... with its Extensions, Themes and proven superiority to internet exporer, it really is just better

Installing Firefox does not effect IE, so why not at least try it

Additional Comment:
And Platinum, you are so wrong with your comment about Firefox security, they have less vulnerabilites and exploits, they patch more of them then IE does (IE maybe 50%, firefox 75%+), and with the use of extensions such as No Script you can really keep Firefox nice and safe.

Please name some of these vunerabilites and exploits and back up your arguement, It may say that on mozillas website, but i see no proof.
Ive used firefox for quite a while, And while it is good, It has more or less the same amount of vunerabilites and exploits going by my knoweldge after using it for the length of time i have.
I can also note, that extension aren't written by mozilla. they are usualy third party, meaning it isn't actualy firefox that is safer, as the standalone program its self is as vunerable as IE.
Its also a cheap opera rippoff, Tabbed browsing anyone?

[FONT=&quot]It is not so much that Firefox is not vulnerable, but compared to IE they are a lot less vulnerable. This is partial to the fact that IE has been around for so long, but the speed at which and how well Firefox and IE fix their vulnerabilities that they find in their program are far different. When is the last time IE had its last vulnerability update? How often do they update to protect from his? Not nearly as often as FF.

Extensions are made by third parties, yes. They incorporate good extensions into the next version quite often. That is why Firefox is open source and does not mind if people improve upon their design. I don't see it as lazy, I see it as a weakness to not let people create these plug-ins into an internet browser.

well i suggest using firefox till IE 7 comes out. ie7 will by far be the safest explorer, combined with vista. i guess u can find more info at the microsoft site somewhere. and i dont see what u guys mean by firefox is faster, it is even slower sometimes. one nice thing about firefox is the rightlick->view page info
i think microsoft have stopped, or slowed down, their updating to ie6 cuz it is better to put more manpower into finishing ie7 than fixing a few bugs in 6

Additional Comment:
uh firefox just crashed right after i posted that -.-

I was anti-firefox when I used a computer that was ten years old and lagged even when I played mp3s. Now that I have a new computer that doesn't lag near as much (if at all lol), Firefox is all I will use. IE feels like Dialup compared to Firefox IMHO. Firefox is much quicker and slicker. The regular skin is so simple it's great; and tabbed browsing is much better than say 5+ browsers open at once.

Firefox FTW. Plus you can bump up security to minimize popups/spyware drastically if not totally.

IE7 with vista will be equal to next version of Firefox in vist IMO... IE may become equal in normal secuirty, but without security extensions and non-lazy vulnerability patches through Windows Update, IE will never be equal.

do u even know what the ie7 will do for security, please read about it before saying anything. for now all firefox does is block stuff u tell it to block, oh wow too much programming somebody stop them...
firefox is probably better than ie6, but wont be a match to ie7

I have looked into IE7s security. It will be more secure for one or two months, but microsoft has already proved they don't correct vulnerabilities found in IE at all. I am not saying the basis of it will fail, I am saying the lack of service packs and updates to protect from recent exploits is terrible. Unless Microsoft pulls their socks up, I don't think IE7 will best Firefox 2.0 for long (2.0 should be out by then).
