Only thing that comes to mind is NeverWinter Nights.
Character has levels, Buy items etc.

ya a diablo clone in 3d but it has a bad item generation engine so its only good for single player it is called

Dungeon Siege

-too bad this game wasnt all worked out before it was released it had c0ool gameplay, since yu not only get 1 character but a mule and several guys as a team and u fight a big dragon n such. Its fun but it sux online even tho its able to play on line with friends

Unfortunately Most other games similar to diablo have rather poor Graphics/Details for items. NeverWinter Nights is an example of that... Otherwise a good game. (play it more than D2)
