Ok, yesterday I was playing cs for a while chatting with people on aim/msn and stuff. Well, I decided to go to sleep cause it was really late and I had school so I go to shut off my comp and it takes about 10 minutes to turn all the way off.. why?

It could be alot of reasons. You may have alot of programs it has to turn off. I know steam takes a bit to turn off on my comp. Try closing some applications before you turn it off. I may not be right but this is what happens on my computer.

yea steam takes a while for my comp to close too so that might be it

The only thing thats weird is it never did that before. And nothing was open. I mean it didnt do it last night when I was shutting it off

I had the same problem awhile back. My comp was taking 10-20 mins to shut down. I recenlty found this program called TuneUp Utilities 2006 and when I did the registry clean, my comp no longer had that problem, now it shuts down in about 30 seconds (like it's suppoed to). Also, I reccomend making sure you clean out any spyware you may have, and scan for vireses just to be on the safe side.
Generally, you should clean as much crap you can find in your computer. Over time Programs/Windows crap all over your hard drive and mess-up your Registry (and crap on it too).
And, Yes, is can happen over-night like it did to me.
