Greatest Bands/Artists ever

One of the most inspiring DJs for all turntablists---Dj shadow, the first to personally create and juggle beats

Yah, but should DJ's be included since they don't really make music, but play it

Sublime...inspiration for modern music is very high...many people have given credit to Brad especially since he died...311...inspired many rap/rock bands...most of which haven't gotten famous cause they haven't quite perfected it as 311 has...Madonna and Manson I agree with...as it goes for the other types I put my personal picks up and asked people to tell me who and what needed to be represented...if nobody felt the need to nominate them then there wasn't much of a point to me adding them

Absolutely no band can even come close to Taking Back Sunday, or Senses Fail. But it depends if you like the emo screamo stuff I guess.

Never heard of those two. Are they part of that new age movement along with Good Charlotte and what not?

Absolutely the same a Good Charlotte, but with talent and without the sickeningly wannabe goth lead singer. And their less corny as well. Big Grin

1. AC/DC and Sepultura were not forgotten they were actually going to be on the first list but I wasn't sure if they should really go on...then when people started nominating other bands I realized this list is too damn long...
2. Taking Back Sunday...I would rather put on the Mars Volta...which actually has a member of Taking Back Sunday in it...Omar or something like that...
3.I have a list I made from what people at my school thought...of course I told a lot of them no...but here's what I actually thought would fit as great bands but not really the greatest ever also some are ones that I thought"...hey...they're awsome"...all bands on the list posted here before are not included on this second list:

Neil Young
Chuck Berry
David Bowie
The Police
Sting (yes I know Sting was a member of the Police but as a solo artist he is still well respected and very inspirational)
Barry White (oh yeah baby)
Radiohead
Billy Holiday
The Supremes
The Offspring
Billy Joel
Bob Marley (who is being added to the other list)
Garbage
Slayer
Megadeath
James Brown
Little Richard
The Chemical Brothers
The Beastie Boys
Blues Traveller
House of Pain
Blue Oyster Cult
NWA
Judis Priest (being added)
Aretha Franklin (being added)
Frank Sinatra (being added cause he rules)
Moris Day and the Time
Jay-Z
The Who
Counting Crows
Mow Town
Simon and Garfunkel
Elton John (being added)
Scorpions
Michael Jackson (being added cause pop needs recognition)
Van Halen
Kiss

Well, if you are going for the most influential groups for their genre...Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis have to be up there for Rock and Roll. Another person who has to be up there is Bob Dylon because he opened the flood gates for yet another singer who should be up there: Hendrix. Lol, making these lists are very tough Spoon. :p

Hendrix and Elvis are already on the list but I'll add Jerry Cool

Well if Hendrix is on, then its a MUST that you add Bob Dylon because he is Hendrix's inspiration.

ok.... your list is skewed... people are adding bands through personal taste. If that is the case, why dont we just list our cd collections? No, thats not how a list for THE GREATEST BANDS/ARTISTS should work..... not just the most enjoyable BUT BASE it on talent, quality, creativity, originality, energy, how the inspire modern music, and on the message. slayer, megadeth, garbage, scorpions, blue oyster cult, blues traveller.... you guys really f*cked up the list.... adding sepultara is just plain retarded.... you need serious help with this list... read a music history book, it wont have the COMPLETE BIAS your list has. keep on rockin in the free world... and doo doo da loo do>>>>>>>>>>

peace, poik

I never added those heavy metal bull crap bands. I didn't want KISS either. The names I suggested are all classic Artists who have been considered as very influential for their time. This includes Joel, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylon, Jimmy Hendrix, Lynard Skynard, Bowie, The Who, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis. amongst some others. I don't agree with the metal, death metal, or new age bands one bit.
