WHAT ARE .exe FILES AND HOW ARE THEY GENERATED ?
The packages on this server have been compressed using "zip", a powerful freeware compression tool that uses the same compression algorithm as "gzip", but uses the file format of PK-ZIP (a PC compression tool).
The zip-files generated by the Unix tool "zip" are compatible with pkzip zip-files.
To decompress (unzip) the .exe files on this server, no additional tools are required. All the files are packaged as self-decompressing zip-files. Simply copy the ".exe" file to your disk, set the file modes to allow execution, and then execute the file to extract the ".bff" file it contains. This can (should?) be done without being "root".
These .exe files are generated by concatenating a tool delivered in the "unzip" package with the zip-file containing the .bff archive, as follows :
$ cat /usr/local/bin/unzipsfx lsof-3.68.0.0.zip > lsof-3.68.0.0.exe
Driver installation
- Click on Start, then Run.
- Click on the Browse button.
- Browse towards the location of the driver you want to install. Click on the Setup file (sometimes the file may be called Install) and click Open.
- A confirmation of the path to your driver setup file will now be shown. If it is correct, click OK.
- The installation program will now commence. Follow on-screen instructions to install your particular driver.

Take the DiabloII file that looks like the game in the ZIP for D2Loader, and put it in your Diablo II folder so it replaces the old one. You might want to change the name of the old one so it doesn't get overwritten.
Then D2Loader is installed, you can do whatever else you want from there (see my guide for other things you can do, link in sig)

Yeah Blood that info was total bull, you copy and pasted from some bad guide on installing drivers... if you don't know what you are talking about do not even bother posting.

That usually happens when you are trying to run d2loader from inside the zip file. Unzip it and put the file inside the diablo 2 folder, rename the Diablo II file to Diablo II.bak or something. The D2loader file you might have to rename to Diablo II. add the mpq files from the play cd. Its usually just 1 or 2 mpq files.
If you don't want to use d2loader, make an image of the play cd to add to your computer and run it off a virtual drive. Power ISO and Alcohol 120% are 2 good programs that put a virtual drive on the computer. all you have to do is make an image of the play cd and mount it to the virtual drive (rightclick image Mount)

The MPQ files are the two files off of the CD you need to copy into your Diablo II folder if you want to play without the CD.
You don't need to do this, but a lot of people like to.

mpqs are game data files that are used in blizzard games. Most mqps are found on a play cd. there is usually 2 that are not put into the diablo 2 folder during installation cause they are uncommon files that are used to recognize a play cd.

mosherkl Wrote:so were are they then and, also, how i get on diablo with 2 things runin? on battl.net? The mpqs that are installed when diablo are installed are inside the diablo 2 folder in your computer. the other 2 (including the ones that were installed) are inside the diablo 2 play CD (rightclick the cdrom icon that has diablo and click open).
To use your d2 loader, Open your diablo 2 folder and rename Diablo II.exe to Diablo II.bak.exe or something like that. Extract the d2loader from its zip (or rar) to the diablo 2 folder and rename the exe to Diablo II. Then open your diablo 2 play cd by going to mycomputer the cd rom that its in and click open on the cd rom. NOT AUTOPLAY. and drag the mpqs to the diablo 2 folder. If it says replace, say no. then you can play it without cd
if you use a bot or maphack, you will have to add a command to the target line in the icon on the desktop.
I'll edit this later on with a link to where it has pictures on how to do it okay?
