Hmmm Ears are just funny, don't think they were meant to be useful, although I wish other body parts would come off too! like eyes, nose, genitals.. O_o ermm... where was I? oh yeah Gems... they aren't the most useful thing in the world... but how easy are they to find? I mean they are pretty common really esp in hell where all you find are flawless and in no time you have a perf.
useless crap... hrm...
1: Gull You ever seen this? why should it be unique? I've seen BLUE items better than this oh wait "its ****** stuff" NO blues and rares make fine ****** stuff as it is I get all jumpy and crap when I see a unique and gull and every other WORTHLESS unique just ticks me off.
2: Thawing pots... yep but I do use antidote potions pretty often in hell where pois damage is a pain... and no not everyone has uber godly crap that they bought on a website... Not ALL of my chars can have max res in hell, I'm doing good to have 3 of them with max resses
3: anything ethereal thats non socketed or doesn't repair itself... why? its kind of a dumb concept... ooh ethereal make it slightly better but its gonna be broke in an hour! I fail to see the humor <_< although my eth skullders with over 1k def and repairs itself is kinda cool
4: Angelic set... omg does it suck. When I was new to the game I found the angelic sword thingie... spent all this time finding the rest of the crap... and it was horrible. I know not all sets should be super great but angelic is less than useless
5: any crazy insane item that doesn't have a decent chance to drop in the game that you must almost BUY online to ever see... I've never heard of a 290 dropping... I've never even seen anyone claim to have gotten a drop on it only place to get em is by trade (insane trades usually) or online. Some of the runeword items might fit under this, but I kinda like those. Runewords are fun and hard work and very possible given some time and effort.

none of these are in a particular order... those are just the ones I thought of at the time

if you look at the gulls last stat (i think its last stat) you will see that it gives the user +100% mf. that seems quite useful, plus the fact that some chars don't even care about phys damage-i'll highlight the sorc for that. u can just switch to that and continue blasting you orb or meteor or whatever u use, and theres 100% mf helping ya out

Gull does have a GD low drop rate tho, considering the fact that it sucks, itd be easier to just find a baba or something, its like 500:1 odds from cow king and like much much less than that from anyone else. I think the ratio of time spent to the usefulness of the item just makes it useless anyway

1) Eth items are great in HC duels.

2) If you're unsure whether or not your character will survive botting HC, you want eth items.

3) If your character never gets hit while botting, perfect eth mf items is the way to go.

Angelic set... omg does it suck.

If you ever come across a low level PKer in HC, chances are he'll have duel Angelic rings and an Angelic ammy.

ok eth items are VERY useful as they add dmg and def (important factors in the game, mainly pvp) and if u get a good item u can put a zod in it. and for angelic , do u know what it adds with just ring and amu? very good for pvpers with low dex

I still think cracked items are the most useless. the sell for nothing, no one uses them, and the sneak into your inventory

Ethereal cracked sash is great. It's not useful, but still.

And mercs are godly. Act 2 Blessed Aim merc with Doom, CoA and Stone/CoH/Levi. My zealot loves one of those.

some people play the game all the way through too. Some don't get rushed constantly, or take uber items from other chars, and mules. Take angelic set for example........it blows donkeys.........but on like(gonna sound stupid cuz I don't know min level for it)a lvl 15 barb, the whole set ownz. put 2 rings on and 2 swords on and you kill everything at the lower levels. I'm not supporting it, I'm just saying the people that complain about stuff the most usually are the ones who are rushed, and have never played the game through all the way...........o and I'm not even going there on the gull as I've seen someone else already put that out there.

Hehe, yeah eth stuff adds this and that, yadda yadda yadda... I can see how they'd be fine for HC but all I play is closed softcore non ladder bnet and open if I'm bored... a good eth is nothing but an item I wish I had that wasn't eth... Zod em? man it would have to be a GREAT eth item to put 1 zod in... I'd rather use zod for a runeword...
Gull does add 100 mf.. but ali baba which is more common (for me anyway) and better mf, although it sucks azz for damage too is better than gull there as well.

And I've played the game all the way through alone several times, haven't alot lately but fact is I have and I still disliked angelic. At least berserker set is decent for a barb at low levels!

Far as sucky uniques go, I'm not saying we need more good/godly uniques, I'm saying we need LESS crapy ones. Nothing urks me more than doing a baal run and 2 or more uniques drop off of hell baal... one godly one a POS and which one did I grab? usually the POS coz I only had time to click the first gold colored item I saw If that meant only one unique drop offa baal, fine. I don't see the need for a unique for every level and every class.
at low levels rares blues and low sets should be fine. what is so unique about an item thats worse than most rares and a few blues? Ohh I see... it looks different and has a silly name, wiiiiiii!

I have to say I have never used a single exploding postion in my life.

A mod I'd like to see dumped is frost nova. how lame. I don't know what level you need to have to actually damage anyone, but I've never seen it.

The drop rate for gulls are worse than a Ali baba's? Odd... I've had no problem coming across gull daggers O_o I found them usefull on my lower level barbs doing MF runs.

One set I've never been fond of is the arctic furs set. I think one problem with low level uniques and set items is you do want them to be more usefull than blues and rares... but then again, if you make them too uber, you'd have to boost the mods on higher level uniques to keep them higher level (and there's already some real cheese runewords around).

I generally use rare items anyway... some of the mods are damn decent, and there's a wider variety of mix and matching really.

[/rant on] I forgot all about those friggin damn throwing potions! Oh how i loath those things, ABOSOLUTLY pointless, i remember my very first d2 game i picked up a few and thought to myself: wtf?
its incredibly annoying to be in a baal run and a unique drops or something and your alt+click is so crowded with crappy damage pots that you think your standing right on a different item and you pick it up and run all the way to the other side of the room and get killed along the way or something. meh. They need to have a maximum mlvl that can drop those things, or maybe make it so they can come rare or magical or you can cube them up to higher grade so theyd have a small chance of being usefull. Better yet, delete them! Ive never used one to seriously try to kill with, only testing around on my first d2 days, and even then it was obvious they sucked [/rant off]

ahh well here it is... the body parts to make kalem's flail... those are really useless as all it takes is for you to make a trav run game... get someone to give you portal... kill council...and flail is useless to ya...cause you just get the wp for dur 2.

wait...maybe not that useless if your gonna do your own COMPLETE run through the game without help anywhere...(which is what i will be doing in near future.... gonna solo from norm act1 through hell act 5 on a char...then everything for that character will be strictly stuff it finds itself...)

as for the Eth comment... there is one thing that Eth is great for...

your merc...if its not worth putting a zod in..but like really good type item

(such as maybe an eth vampire gaze).... put it on your merc...it will never lose durability.

another thing is some items like an eth vortex shield, eth zerker with no sockets...

well i would personally trade out the rear end for them

Zods are no problem with ethereal items. Besides, most of them repair itself.

when on mf runs - i often res my merc for no other reason then to feed her Heal potions to clear up all the crap around me.

I don't know how many times I almost walked by a unique drop because it was buried by a million dropped potions.
