there isn't more to the riddle? Like some rittles are retarded and at the end say: "Can you solve this riddle?" And the answer is No I can't solve your stupid riddle you made too hard for there to be any possible answer, because if that line: "Can you solve this riddle?" Is in your riddle, I'm pretty sure that is the answer. But if it isn't, then I would say ask 1 gaurd which gaurd can lie and ask the other which the door to happiness is. But thats probably wrong.

ask both guards "is this the door to happiness?" since one can lie and tell the truth he would either say yes or no, if both answers are yes take that door, if both are no take the other door

That is an old one, in fact I saw it on "Dr. Who" a VERY long time ago, probably 20 or more years ago.
EDIT: ask either guard "If I ask the other guard 'what is the door to happiness?" what will he answer?" The lying guard will point to the door to death because it isn't to happiness and the truthful guard will point to the door of death because that IS what the lying gaurd would point to. They will both point to the door of death, so take the other door.

don't think this works.
guard 1 = can lie/truth
guard 2 = truth
ask #1: is this the door that leads to happines? he tells truth and says yes
ask #2: is this the door that leads to happines? he has to tell truth and says no...
so which door do you pick??? since you do not know which guard is which bro...

i got it. ask one of the guards to go in each door. then the one that comes back alive you know thats the happy door

Thats not a question thou. Thats telling them to do something.
This reminds me of the movie Labyrinth where she had to pick between two doors so she asked the question takezandgoez said and it all ended up being she had a 50/50 chance. You will always regret not taking risks. Fact is pick one.

See my edit above. I answer how to do this. You have to ask one guard what the other gaurd would say, then do the opposite.

kk gotcha... however how do you bank on the guard who can lie AND tell the truth to point you toward the wrong door and lie? can't he do both? so isn't it still 50/50?
or is the point of the riddle that 1 guard will lie and one will tell the truth?

Kick one of the guards in the balls.
When he crumples to a heap on the floor, ask the other guard "Do you want me to kick you in the balls too?"
The liar will say yes, and the truthful guard will say no.
Based on that answer you can then ask them if the door leads to happiness/death.
And kick the remaining guard in the balls also for good measure.

wow so only a few of us made a serous atempt at this. "who is the Lier" one will have to say the truth and point at the other and the other will point back.. i mean basicly every question i think of leads to this point damnit this is hard.

The way I heard it, you could only ask one question otherwise you could ask a guard "what is 1 + 1 equal?" and figure out which guard lies. So, again, ask one gaurd your question. "If I ask the other guard what door to happiness what will he say?"
The dishonest gaurd would lie and tell you that the honest guard would tell you the death door.
The honest guard would tell you the truth, that the dishonest guard actually told you the death door.
Understand, they will both tell you the opposite of what you want. Kind of like multiplying a positive (honest) by a negative (dishonest) will ALWAYS give you a negative (wrong) number!
