This is gonna be my last anwser this only thing i can think of and i think its gotta be the anwser plus this is what i was saying in the beginning but made it easy. I would ask the guards: if i were to ask the other guard which door is the right one, what would he say.

You could still get the exact same answer twice from either of the guards. I'm almost certian this is an impossible question, there are too many variables. You didn't leave anything out, did you Invisible?

If I asked the other guard, which door would he indicate
leads to happiness?" Take the door opposite to what's indicated!
Regardless of whom you ask, they'll point to the wrong door.
I searched for an hour all i could come up with.
~Lynch~
P.S. Apprently some guy named R. M. Smullyan can up with something called Knights, Knaves, and Normals. Knights always tell the truth. Knaves always lie. That was the basic principal of the joke, but later when he discovered that it was easier then he intended he added a new group called Normals. Normals can lie or tell the truth. From there I can't see to find the answer. Just telling you guys that the riddle is correctly stated.

Guys this is soooo ez
The question one could ask is, "If I were to ask your brother whether you always tell the truth, what would he say?" A reply of "no" means you are talking to the truth teller, a reply of "yes" means you are talking to the liar.
Another possible question is, "If I were to ask you whether you always tell the truth, what would you say?" In this case a reply of "yes" means you are talking to the truth teller and a reply of "no" means you are talking to the liar.
Both questions take advantage of the liar lying about what he or his brother would say, creating a double negative type situation.
And/or you can do this
They point to which door, one says the real, one sais the other...You ask one do you exist? Yes or no...you figure it ou!!
AND A FINAL ONE IS....
Ok...so you've defeated the paradox brothers (THIS IS FROM A YU GI OH EPISODE GUYS) and now there is 2 doors you have to go through. 1 bro always says the truth, while another always does not.
You have beaten them and now they have to point to the real door.
READ CAREFULLY, ITS SOOOO EZ!!!
You first ask the always truth teller, If i were to ask you what door your brother would pick, which one would you tell me? The real one, would be TrU on what door his bro will pick, so he will point to a door. The lying one, will point to the FAKE door that the REAL bro would pick? why? HE ONLY SPEAKS LIES!!
SO THEY BOTH PICK THE SAME DOOR! WHICH MEANS THE OTHER DOOR UNPICKD IS THE REAL DOOR!
Read it over and you'll get it!!
[color=red] I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT GOT IT RIGHT? EVEN IF YOUR CLOSE YOU ALL GOT IT WRONG...WHY?
THE QUESTION SAIS TO ASK ONEEEE QUESTION, NOT ASK HIM THIS AND ASK HIM THAT!! SO AHA!! WOOT WOOT[/b]

The thing is, one of the guards can tell truth or lies.
This is impossible.
Math = 7+x+y= 74, x and y can be anything, therefore you can never find out x and y. Like math, there is 1 known and 2 unknowns, with 3 variables total, so his problem is impossible.

Amirborna
Damn your arrogant... your are not correct, you are assuming the liar always lies.... BUT this is not the case, the liar may OR may not tell the truth. Read the question more carefully before being so obnoxious
I solved it!!!
If the room only has two doors, surely you entered the room from the door that doesn't lead to certain death. You should go back through the door from which you came.
Ill keep thinking about it just in case

Or maybe YOUUU should read the question...
one can ONLY tell lies
one can ONLY tell the truth
[Door] [Door]
1bro 1bro
You
[DoorThatyouCameFrom]
You are wrong there buddy...
Listen, i'll make it clearer
You ask 1 simple question...that is
If I ask your brother Which door leads to the happy land, which will he choose?
You didn't ask that directly, so it's to both of them..
Ok listen
The truth always sais the truth no matter what
He WILL point to the door which the brother will choose, which that door is the hell door. Which is the door yo DO NOT want to go to...
But listen, at this time you don't know who tells truth who tells lie...
Ok, one is pointing to a door, 1 more to go
You ask the other one, If i ask your brother what door is the happy land door, which will he pick? HE WILL TELL YOU THE WRONG ANSWER, REMEBER HE CAN ONLY TELL LIES. SO HE WILL NOTTTTT TELL YOU WHICH DOOR THE OTHER BRO WILL PICK.
Remember in the beginning you had the problem of 1 pointed to this door, the other to the other door, which you had to find out which door is which. NOW you have both pointing to one door. You can clearly see that the door both are pointing to are the hell door...
With my way, you get a guaranteed 100% to go to happy land compared to others, with a <50%
Now you see whos right

Ask the one that always tells the truth if the lie\truth guard is going to lie or tell the truth. Then ask the lie\truth guard what door leads to hapiness

Quote from invisible - the guy who first posed the question... HIS WORDS
Invisible Wrote:One can ONLY tell the TRUTH.
and the other can LIE AND tell the TRUTH.
do you read the question??? damn you think after it was pointed out you would re-read the question. Either your to arrogant to check your mistakes or your to dense to see a mistake pointed out to you. try reading the question again
I think you only get one question posed to both gaurds.... invisible?? clarification

But see hunter, the variable in the guys question that submitted this puzzle makes this impossible...why?
Because the lier can tell lies and truth...this puzzle is ment to be this..
Only one can tell ONLY LIES, and the other can tell ONLY Truth.
That way, my interpretation is correct. BUT, the way the guy said it is
Invisible Wrote:One can ONLY tell the TRUTH. and the other can LIE AND tell the TRUTH. you may only ask one question to both of the gaurds
The LIE AND TRUTH makes this impossible.
Why?
Because if you ask one guard something, it can be either or, there is no way telling who is who...because basicly saying the LIER is a LIER AND A TRUTH, there is no way to figure out how..
No matter what you ask them, even if you ask the lier two questions, you won't know..
You can ask the lier this...
Do you exist? He can say yes, THat's a TRUE answer, so you think thats him, but see, then you can ask him show me the door, and he can point to the hell door, and that is the point of this puzzle.
Either he rewords it and i win, or nobody will figure this out...

so let me get this right...
1) there's two guards. one only tells the truth and one can lie & tell the truth.
2) i can only ask one question. but the question has to be to both at the same time?

amirborna the riddle states one can lie and tell the truth. just because you don't get it doesn't make it wrong. so stfu and stop saying one can only lie.
how about waiting until one of the gaurds has to take a piss then follow him into happy land
