Alright guys, this is the story. I recently had my computer get screwed up, needed to format, and reinstall Win XP. So, I bought the XP Upgrade, and just reinstalled Windows ME, and used the upgrade on that. Everything went fine. Then, I'm using Windows XP, and I had reinstalled all my old programs I had had in the past. Except a few, the things I have, are Video codecs (Klite codec pack) AOL IM, SpyBot S&D, Ares, Diablo II LoD, and AVG 7.0 ( I wanted Symnantec Anti-Virus but couldn't find a free one =[ ...). And I've been noticing a few problems. One...My system hang's from time to another, my programs seem to be a little slow, and my memory is usually being used quite alot more than when I oringally had my computer with more programs. I have 4 GB only used in my computer so far, and 256 MB. ATI Radeon 9250. And I still can't seem to see why my computer constantly hang's, stops responding, goes much more slower. I usually do Disk Cleanup, and Defrag, and Clean Ram (freeware program), once every night , ever since the probs started happening, and it still dont go away, doe's anyone know if it's something with my hard drive? Ram? I'm going crazy, my computer never used to do this...

Not as much as interuppted...But during the install of Windows ME (I didn't think i would've needed ME component's) , But I had chosen to skip some of the install steps, like something with my Intel chip and Processer, but my computer was working fine still...Do you think that could've been the problem?

yes that what i mean. it would say something like:"press any key to skip".
was it upgrading windows or actually installing for the first time?

This was during the Installation of ME (Because I needed either the original ME install disc or previsouly installed OS to install XP, And I only had the System Restore disc's for ME (Which I had to use to install). And I pressed any key to skip, on only the aOL drivers (I didnt need) and an Intel install. I had to upgrade XP after Installing ME

hmmm...well something like this happened to me but i skipped in the middle off windows xp sp2 overwiriting my old windows. i recommend reformatting(do it yourself with online instrictions). then just install everything to be safe.

have you checked your task manager to see if you have any programs running, that you don't need to run all the time. ( as in MSN messanger, another web browser, something along those lines). Cause i know when i reformated my computer Musicmatch and a few other programs would run when windows started unless you set the program to not run when windows starts up

how much ram do you have, maybe its time to upgrade that, or get a faster processor...
