If you wish a serious discussion I will start one.
We NOW know life exists and thrives in various environments. Some being harsh and very extreem. 30 years ago they did not know what we know now. The micr-bicrobial enteties are still there. It is up to us to be smart enough to find them.

So there is water on mars... hmm so that must mean there could be life also in other places where htye haven't searched hard enough.

We have known that their are signs of water all over mars for years. So obviously that means there was life at some point. Hell there might even be life there now....maybe we can't see it. Maybe it lives in another dimension. Maybe they are rocks. It sounds weird, but with how little we know about space, and E.T's you never know.

Water is not the only required factor for life. Many life forms exist in acids and insanely hot teperatures here on earth. It is not out of the realm of probabilities that similar things exist on other worlds. We just,at this point in time, have neither the money, nor popular public support to explore this in a very effective manner.

What a shock. Our brilliant scientists botched another one. Oh well, at least maybe they will get it right next time. Is anyone really that suprised by this?
