Learning guitar?

Hey, I want to get into playing guitar...(electric) I don't know alot but I'm gonna start cheap and I was just wondering if it is realy hard to learn or if it will jsut take some practice/any other advice you may have since I know a few people on here know what they are talking about when it comes to this stuff. Thanks in advance for any help (I also didn't know where to put this )

if you just want to learn just for the hell of it i doubt you'll get far. you have to want to learn.. genuinely. can't just be like 'oh i should play guitar now.' not judging you or your position at all, just saying.. if you think it may be a phase, it can be an expensive one. it would suck to let a 300$ rig rot away in your closet.

its not really easy but it can be lots of fun. it requires patience and it does require a lot of work-- have fun though. if at any time it isn't fun give it up. thats been my outlook and i really haven't ever been able to let it go lol

For me it was easy at first,and i was playing jingle bells my second day. And then i quit,because it was too hard to learn 2 instruments at once,since i was already learning clarinet

i was playing 'iron man,' all the way to the faster parts of the song on hour 10

my uncle was with me the whole day and showed me how to play power chords.. i stumbled onto iron man by accident lol

Thanks and it's not like I'm gonna play in a band or anything but I think I'd still like to learn (I've spent more on something that sits in my closet :\\ i.e. powerisers= $450...sad)

I play bass but what xDBD said about it not being fun is so true... If my bass pisses me off I have to drop it for the day, last night I was playing and my whole hand went dead it hurt like hell. I think I hit a nerve in my middle finger... It sucked.
