Dupes killing diablo 2?

I think the new D2 economy allows low players to get high runewords relatively easy. That's always a plus, in my mind.

Plus Duped items for me dont poof for about 200 games..
lol and if you dupe you can dupe like 50s sojs at a time so it doesnt matter.

D2 was ruined for me a long long time ago, I think it was the day that they started banning people for botting and maphack and did practically nothing about dupers/dupes. I've been on recently, this lag is nothing compared to the lag of a couple years ago. Does anyone else remember waiting in line so long that the game would close and then when you tried to join another game afterward you got IP banned for 5 hours?

As if duping has never been a problem up until now. There have always been dupes in diablo. It hasn't been killed by duping that's always been there. The horrible lag, which can be caused by duper or more likely bad servers, and the fact that they haven't updated anything in a few years.

The "You are 2000th is line to create a game" thing was due to botting, not the dupers. Unless you were just referring to that in general and not specifically to the botting.

I'm well-aware what caused the lag, I suppose I was part of the problem. But my point is that duping, which harms more innocent players then anything, should have been handled before they blindly banned all the bot and map hack users back then. However, if your saying they banned all the botters to fix the lag, then Blizzard was just cuttin corners to save a buck or 2, when they could have just gotten more/better servers. If they can't stop duping AS it happens, instead of catching it after the item is already in someone else's hands, whats the point.

lol, i remember those lines. but i joined closed just as they were coming to an end. however, d2 only lagged in like 1 out of every 20 games. all others were nice. but yeah the dupers totally ruined it and is probably the only reason why i quit

They need to fix the dupe. The lag is shit, I dont give a damn about the games economy but the lag is extremely bad to the point where nearly every game you join it lags really bad and is getting to the point where I may just quit until they fix it.

Yes..and they earned PRACTICALLY NOTHING from d2..except wasting money on server maintenance and wasting time restarting the gay ladder.

The reason there is so much lag is because of all the duping.... I think there should be another Mass ruststorm

Personally and I think this goes for everyone, I wouldn't keep playing diablo if it turned 100% legit. I have spent WAY too many hours MFinf in baal/meph/pindle and WAY too many hours playing chars without the baal glitch.

Also I really doubt the majority of people would keep playing knowing there ain't gonna be any more HRs (don't argue with me...HRs are 90% duped) or most elite itms (There's gotta be like legit 10 CoAs MAX in Europe).

Let's face it, Diablo is OLD and the reason people still play it is because it's fun to be overpowered with duped itms. If there was a ladder reset tommorow and every glitch/abuse/dupe was fixed the drop of ppl would be massive. Who the hell would keep going knowing he can NEVER have the gear they had unless they invest 10x times they did before to get it!

The argument about duping harming innocents is silly. Most diablo 2 noobs play for fun and will never EVER find a HR to trade or even get close to the level legit players where 1 year ago. And they don't really care either. In my personal experience duping and the excess of itms it created helps those noobs with free itms and making itms in general CHEAPER. F.e. I give away full tals to naps, just to hear a thnx. In a legit universe noone would ever do that, cause Tal would still be de zhit!

Also let's not forget that when duping wasn't so at large half the builds weren't playable. Combat classes can't make it without the TOP runewords and top runewords can't exist without duping.

My final advice is to keep duping controlled. Don't scam ppl by selling them dupes, try to make legit RWs, cube runes etc. Give some of the wealth for free. When someones gives u a LEGIT itm, raise ur offer 1-2 HRs. Don't overlag the servers just to dupe 1 arach for ur new soso. Keep it as low as possible and most of all, play the game instead of just duping/selling...

1 thing to say before i post this. I quit d2 about 8months ago before all the Mass duping. There was some duping going on but mainly only with hr's. When i started D2 my goal was 1 thing. To get halfway and rich and have 1 kickass character. I had an alright hammerdin along with an alright light sorc, but i used those 2 chars to mf like a mother. I got my hrs the long way and and made one of the best smiters in the game. I felt so proud because i did it all on my own. and didnt dupe or use duped items. The fun of playing d2 was because i knew i had a goal to get to. people dont play d2 just for the hell of it. unless u have those ppl that like making new characters with shitty gear but i dont see any of those people.
