Scenario: Jack pulls into school parking lot with rifle in gun rack.

1956 - Vice Principal comes over, takes a look at Jack's rifle, goes to his car and gets his to show Jack.

2006 - School goes into lockdown, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1956 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up best friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

2006 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

2006 - Billy's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang. Billy's sister is told by state psychologist that she remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.

2006 : Pedro's cause is taken up by state democratic party. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he can't speak English.

1956 - Ants die.

2006 - BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called. Johnny charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated, Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

My friend and I were just talking about the PC'ness this world has fallen into in the last few decades last night. It is completely true, everyone is afraid someone else is going to be offended by something they say so they censor themselves.

I guess at this point I want to say something about Don Imus... Since when was "nappy headed," a racial slur? People should be more angry over him calling the Rutgers women hoes than, "nappy headed." Last I heard, "nappy headed" meant dirty haired and it had nothing to do with black people. Anyone agree? This is a prime example of overreaction.

Oh and Al Sharpton, he likes to talk all his shit to Don Imus but any time something ever happens he pulls the ****ing race card... I am sorry but that is not doing anything for black people anywhere. It doesn't even have to be this specific time for him to pull the race card, the race card is for pansys.

I just think the world, well mainly the USA, needs to stop being so ****ing anal. Al Sharpton should die, and people should leave Imus alone, oh and kill the rest of this bullshit press we have. All the press does is jump on a bandwagon and keep rolling with it because they think it sells.

It is just like the Anna Nicole Smith bandwagon, they even showed the story on the ABC Nightly News for at least a week. Noone gives a shit except Birkhead and Stern but they repeatedly air the same shit every night for two weeks because it "sells."

I commend you for making this thread and letting me get some things off of my chest. You rock.

Actually we have the same problems as a lot of other countries.(note I did not say all)
I see political correctness as a major problem,especially in the media.
It influences policies and behavior that is detramental in the long run.
Kids are taught spanking is child abuse....since when was a paddaling for misbehavior abuse?

Now they are taught to call the police if spanked at home.
Strange how now the teachers and Administrators of schools have now lost control.

Political correctness can go stick it's head in a plastic bag to die,as well as take many media personalities with it.

I am certainly glad you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it...

I just read that Imus got fired from his radio show to, big surprise. I am likely one of the few people who will stand up for him but it is not right that something has been so twisted around...

This takes me back to October 1st, 2006 before the election to John Kerry's mishap. Everyone knew what his joke meant, at least you should have.

You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't you get stuck in Iraq.

It should have been obvious that he was talking about George Bush and not the troops. There would have been no, "controversy," if the media didn't skew it. Thats what they do though, and we all need to change it. I believe change starts in the grassroots, so it has to start with us raising hell.

Maybe that is true, maybe not. What we really need is a movement...

It has been to long since a movement has taken place, hell the last one I can really remember is when the Evangelist church took over the Republican party pretty much. We need something to defeat the bullshit that the media has been feeding us, more objectivity. The media is not supposed to be biased but it sure seems they have been biased in some of the recent current events.

So now I will begin an editorial...

I think we need to defeat the right wing religious nuts before we have any chance of getting this country out of the rut we are in. I say this because they have such a grip over the Republican party and it seems that everyone else is so indifferent. If as many people cared about politics as they did about American Idol I believe our country would be a very different place than it is today.

I think our country needs something to happen to spark people's interest in what is really going on, maybe another just war or something... Something needs to bring our country together.... Oh wait nevermind that is what 9/11 was supposed to do, to bad it didn't make people care any more. It seems that all the unity from five and a half years ago has left. People cared for a few months and forgot about it... BUT WAIT, they didn't. The media won't let us forget.

In a nutshell what I am trying to say is that people in our country take their freedom for granted, have lost pride that they should have, and have just become a bunch of indifferent assholes. Some days I ask myself why I even care. I guess it is because I feel that there is still a chance. What will spark this? In my opinion it will be when we become a police state, maybe then people will care. I know if that happens that I will gladly die in battle for my freedom, how many others will? If that ever does happen will I be the first to make a stand? I will be as fast as I can if it does, I don't know if I would be the first but I know I would be among the first.

We need something like this actually to show people that those men two hundred and thirty one years ago didn't die for nothing. That the men in the Civil War did not die for nothing. That the men in World War One, and Two did not die for nothing. I might actually support a police state if it was rumored just for this revolution to start.

the word "racist" has such an inflated stigma to it. nowadays, people are so busy with protecting their reputation from racism or sexism that they're too afraid to voice an opinion other than "yes sir i agree. please walk all over me"

personally, i have never had a real problem with christianity. my best friend and roommate is christian to the core and is true to his religion. one of my suitemates stole a xbox 360 and my friend refuses to play games or watch dvds on it because it is stealing. he has never pushed his religion on me and his only influence is by being an example of morality and never boasting of it.

to me, this is adequate proof that religion itself isnt the sole source of religious wars and discrimination

but that's beside the point. the point of this thread is how america is becoming increasingly tolerant of any bullshit opinion if it's shoved down their throats hard enough

The point I am trying to make is that the only people that vote are the Evangelicals these days. I pretty much said that most of the people that are voting these days are the Evangelicals, and that our country would be different if as many people voted on elections as they do on American Idol. People don't know what they are talking about these days when they try to talk about politics.

I guess I hate it when I talk to someone my age why they hate Bush and they say he is continuing "daddy's" war. He is not, Bush SR liberated Kuwait and left. This is the education we have in our country.

The majority of people I talk to are liberals but noone seems to want to vote because noone with influence will tell them to I guess. I don't know who gave these people the idea that their votes don't count, but it needs to change. That is the point I was trying to make by saying the majority of voters are Evangelicals and the majority of Evangelicals are right-wing nuts. These people believe what is shoved down their throat by the Reverend or Preacher who begs them all for money every week. Who knows where they get their agenda...

I understand you see that but in my eyes it is completely true. If Christians and Republicans were not in-cahoots then why would Ted Haggard the leader of the National Association of Evangelicals have an open line to the president once a week before he got caught being a complete hypocrite with a gay prostitute and meth.
