what do you mean that we continued to misinterpret that?
each religion, although similar, is also unique. you cant just say that Christianity is a misinterpretation of Egyptian polytheism.
if you were to follow that track, then certain stories in the old testament are extremely similar to the the story of Gilgamesh. does that mean the christianity is an misinterpretation of the Gilgamesh? no

No I have no idea about Gilgamesh.
Okay. I have no idea after all those information, you still think that God has NOT originated from Egyptian of the sun god myth, the sun god is not from an actual living being.
Remember the Egyptians did not have Christianity. What they did have and believed in was a Sun God. God of the sun. Which they knew was just a Sun they named Horus. With all the information I provided:
Horus (The Sun God) (A life giver. Worshiped why? Because the sun gave light = life)
Born on Dec. 25th
Born of a virgin
Was a star in the east
Adorned b 3 kings
Teacher at 12
Baptized/Ministry at 30
Carried around 12 disciples
Walked around performing miracles
Named "God of Lamb"/"The Light
Crucified
Buried for 3 days
Resurrected
Now. After years and years, it became this...
Jesus Christ
Born on Dec. 25th
Born of a virgin
Announced with a star in the east
Adorned by 3 kings
Teacher at 12
Baptized/Ministry at 30
Carried around 12 disciples
Known as King of Kings/ Lamb of God/ Light of the World
Betrayed by Judas
Crucified
Placed in tomb
Resurrected
A society who worshiped the sun with those myths and legends of attributes. Coincidentally created a story thousands of years LATER where an ACTUAL person with those EXACT same attributes?
No sorry there is no historical cave painting of "Christianity is a misinterpretation of Horus" But there ARE all those information I provided from the video and research I made from it.
Then again there just may be a person named Jesus Christ who walked around performing miracles. I'm real sorry if there actually was.
Seriously. blank:

If you would like to know about the Gilgamesh, click on the hyperlink.
basically in that story, there is a flood story, just like the Noah story. see the similarity? gilgamesh predates both the egyptians and jews by alot. each culture comes up with their own gods, each with distinct characteristics. you cant say that everyone of them came from just one.

blank: Maybe I worded it wrong, but I never mean everything was from one, and I can tell Gilgamesh was not. I do believe Christianity along with many others, who are borned on Dec 25. born of a virgin and with 12 disciples are from one, the Egyptians. Along with many others too. I won't name the names because I'm not sure. They are listed in the video which you have refused to watch. First 10 minutes doesn't do its justice btw, sounds like a joke in the beginning

I didn't plan on looking at it. But I heard I was mentioned so I came.
Everyone that thinks that I'm going try and destroy metal or this thread is pathetic.
I don't have two hours on my hands nor do I want to watch a stupid movie. Now I hardly read any of the posts so I'm going to assume for now that this is anti-Christian. This is my view.
You don't believe in God? Fine. Thats you.
However you wanted me to discuss so I will, the proof I can give you of God is the Bible (which if you read it God "inspired" people on what to write and be truthful about) and faith. Thats it, faith, you don't have faith, thats fine, I know I'm going to heaven and have full faith in God.
Now onto other things, all other things of humanity coming to be (just like Christianity if you will) have been disproven and/or can't be proven.
I'm out, no more religious topics or political topics for me, cause even though I know all you dumb asses are wrong, you won't listen.

Well if you don't want to take the time to read it through. Nor have you watch what the thread is even about. I agree on you. Don't post in these threads anymore. Good riddance. I already said watch 20 minutes of it.

The Mob Wrote:if science can prove itself, can you tell me why scientists cannot still answer how life actually started? or what triggered the big bang? the has to be some greater force out there, something that started everything. Now that statement is kind of stupid because think of 300 years ago with what scientists didn't know. You are kind of focusing on, if we can't prove it, then this happened. Doesn't quite work like that. They couldn't prove a bunch of shit at the time, and people who doubted it automatically went back to their religious beliefs as truth. 100 years later, whattya know, that shit they were Theorizing is proven correct.
Now, I'm scared of the day one side is proven correct with undeniable facts because that is the day millions of people will have their entire belief system shattered. How can you really recover from that? - I've been going to church my entire life praying and devoting my life to this being that doesn't exist? or - My entire life I've been speaking out against religions for being incorrect and now there's hard evidence proving this divine beings existence? Now I'm ****ed eternally.
I don't know about you but if my entire life up to said point has been built upon false pretenses then I know I'd be going crazy.

Well Fuggle. I respect that thought, and that would be crazy. Would you try to watch 20 minutes of the video to see if that convinces you? It has very strong details on how the God was misinterpreted from the old Egyptian god Horus. The first 10 minute is crap though.

Listen here, I'm not on either side. I'm down for the idea of god when there's a true reason to prove he's up there. I'm not the OMG GOD IS TEH FAKEZ UZ ALL FOOLZ guy. I find faith in anything that you believe in is what's keeping people sane whether it's believing in god or against god. You seem to have the impression that I'm some religious guy or something and I'm not. I couldn't give a shit if God is a misinterpretation of some Egyptian God because why should I? I don't actively try disproving people beliefs here. And what convincing are we talking about here?

Way to keep an open mind.

Wouldn't that just prove that religion is a crutch that people lean on?
I honestly think that it will be proven someday how we came into existence and how that event happened scientifically, not in our lifetime but it will, and when this happens I believe the sheep will cling to their faiths just like they did in the time of the "flat earth." When they are proved wrong they will grab as much as they can to try to keep their power over the millions.
Personally I refuse to be controlled by faith, I will NOT EVER live my life to please anyone but myself.
NOTE: It has recently been pointed out to me that the explanation of the Jesus fish in this movie was incorrect. It was a symbol Christians used in ancient Greece to identify each other when they were being persecuted. This has nothing to do with astronomy.

Religon was contrived for the purpose of control. Think about it what is the one thing that has kept every culture in line and in fact defined it? Religon.
When religon failed or moved into the foreground out came political systems backed by religous ideals.
You can call it what you want and have as many gods and demi-gods as you want but in the end its just a control mechanism.

Wow. That was exactly what the video said. Although I am a bit skeptical about that exactly happening. Did you watch it Obfuscate? The first 20 minutes talks about God. The last parts are about government conspiracy.

No. I wrote a paper on it in 11th grade demonstrating how religon has been used throughout history in almost every culture to both define the culture and control it.
English teacher wanted a controversial paper and I gave it to him in spades.

Very interesting. I can see now not much of the video is false.
Clearly you are a lot more knowledgeable than most of the people who posted in here, only with talk to back them up.

Why do you fear when almost no religon is not without a path of redemtion? Sure, some of the more fundamental hardliner religons preach eternal damnation for petty indiscretions but even some of those have a path of penance.
Tell ya what if a particular religon one day actually proves beyond a resonable doubt with hard proof that their religon is THE religon...I'll convert. Simple as that. Sure, I may not get the 14-night cruise with naked willing cabana girls or anything but I assure you with avid devotion and penance for my sins,as numerous and distasteful as they may be, there's a 99% chance I won't be ending up eternally damn to some cess pool or something. Its the one truely redeeming quality of religon: Forgiveness. But freak out if you must.
Meh, I'll breast my cards and pass till the day I have to go all in and lay 'em down.

There is a tremendous difference in the words and use of Religion,Faith, and Belief.
Historical events recorded in various Religions, have often been considered just stories.
Archeological discoveries have lent truth to much that was considered,at one time, myth.
Personally I follow no man's teachings,and hold my beleifs,as personal,judged by what
I feel strongly as right or wrong.
I am sick to death over being subjected to political, and religious strife and conflicts.
Yet to bury ones head in the sand is not the answer, nor is fanaticism on these subjects.
My advice is to learn...increase your own knowledge base, and decide for yourself, what is true.Merely taking the word of another is not an intelligent way to focus your life.

Fanatacism may not be the answer but someone has to counter zeal with zeal to keep the status quo, I may just be considered one of the people that counters fanatacism to maintain it.

I see at least one person in this thread that needs to take that advice. While I may strongly disagree with you on many issues you are wise yet in some.

I'm a not give a shit-ist.
I stay away from ignorance and blind doctrine anyway, and while i don't beleive in mysticism im not one to try and disproove it. If someone believes it and causes no harm through doing so it's fine.
Not all christians are as hatefull as people beleive.
And if christianity is prooved im the devils advocate anyway.
So im ****ed =/
