Ok, so it's been a while since we've seriously discussed politics on this site, the gay marriage thing was more of a slaughter than a discussion, and I thought we should have another go at it. So, who do you prefer; McCain or Obama? And of course why? Don't say "He's just an old white douche!" or "I hate them negras." Let's have a serious discussion, so 12 year olds please don't make dumb ass comments.

Sadly, some people actualy feel that by not voting for him or criticizing him I'd be doing it because he's black. I know you're joking though.
Seriously though, why Obama?

I think McCain has better policies, better experience and a clear head.
But hey, it's not my country ^^

Neither, both are so close to facist / socialists I can't vote for either. I don't think either really intends to "defend and uphold the Constitution" and this election voting for the "lesser of two evils" would be evil also. It is time for a GOOD third party candidate to shine; too bad our media won't give them a chance.

Get more specific, what views?

My vote will be set for neither. Neither mainstream party are going to solve any problems. My vote is going to the liberitarian party under Bob Barr. to get things slowly set back to personal freedoms and personal liability for money. huge taxcuts/tax reforms and step in the direction of the traditional constitution which the current main parties seem to have no respect for.
Just to point out. there are more than 2 parties. no reason to keep voting for the lesser of 2 evils.

WOW, better look around, you will probably be seeing lot's of those stickers. Right now he is probably the most electable conservative out there (McCain isn't a conservative).
And it isn't a wasted vote either. I expect a lot of "third party" votes this season as there isn't enough of a difference between McCain and Obama for lots of people. The two major parties aren't solving problems anymore. The both expand goverment, limit freedoms and reduce personal responsibility.

I was going too accept I ran outta time and needed to go.
Not alot more to say than I've seen that republicans tend to support upper class America 7figure + incomes. Me not being one of those and Obama supporting middle class Americans I tend to side with him more. Also tax cuts for middle class America, health care plan, a plan to end that ****ing war that Bush started and more.

I really wanted Hilary to be president, because that means Bill will be president too. I mean hes at least going to help Hilary.
But Obama seems cool. I think Obama is going to appeal to younger voters like us.
John F. Kennedy was the youngest president of the United States and now Obama is the second youngest. Lets hope he does just as good of a job.

That's just ignorant, the only things they really agree on is off shore drilling, staying in Iraq, and keeping the tax cuts. Obama plans to raise taxes about 25%...how is that going to help the people struggling? And if he creates new taxes for oil companies that's only going to make prices go up faster, especially since he doesn't support domestic drilling.

Tax increases wouldn't have to be imposed if it weren't for our dipshit country putting a big toddler with the IQ of a retarded baby in the White House. That said, all you stupid ****s stay home this time around. Let the smart people vote our country (at least partway) out of debt.
EDIT: That comment wasn't meant to blast you Spoon... Just speaking my mind.
EDIT: The oil companies deserve to be taxed. Lets move out of the 1800's and into the new millenium. Obama could be what sparks a race for invention. The time our country is in now is dark, what we need are darker times. The country should be punished for it's own sins... One of which was electing you-know-who.
Think of it this way, things are going to get worse before they get better. I think that is how it is going to happen at least, so you may as well make it better sooner than waste another 4 years with someone who doesn't know shit about economics.
Give us this day our daily bread, your legacy we'll not forget. Lick the wounds and cleanse the land, the modern world rejects your hand... Sinister rouge coming back for more to even the score! --- Bad Religion

Obama doesn't know shit about economics...
-He wants to raise taxes 25% taking more money out of our pockets and putting the "average person," whom he supposedly stands for, even more in debt.
-He wants to tax the oil companies. The oil companies will then raise prices YET AGAIN taking money out of our pockets and putting those of us struggling further in debt.
-He will not support domestic drilling. With no supply of oil of our own we're forced to buy more and more foreign oil and ruin our economy even more.
-He wants to take us out of Iraq and hopefully lower the budget. Yet he wants to spend THREE TIMES what we've been spending in Iraq on his programs.
McCain on the other hand:
-Supports domestic drilling yet refuses to allow it to destroy wild life preserves.
-He will cut taxes, especially for small businesses, to help create new jobs and put more money in our pockets.
Also, Obama ending the war is bull shit. He went from saying he'd pull us out right away to saying he'd "decrease" our presence. He's trying to be more moderate and appeal more to those concerned about national security but he's selling out his original promises.

You make it seem like it is going to change... It isn't, the truth is that everyone should vote third party, but that's not going to happen.
McCain doesn't know shit about the economy either and I don't think his domestic policies are any better than Obama's.
By voting McCain you are saying that good ol' American ingenuity doesn't exist anymore. We used to be a country FULL of inventors, but we can't even improve what is goin on around this now. Well I gotta go back to working my life away, since I know I'll never retire with the way shit is. Later.
EDIT BEFORE I LEAVE:
The reason I feel the way I do is that my parents are in their mid-40's and can't even think about retiring because there is not enough extra money for them to save. I'm going to be taking care of them, and now we have started an endless cycle. Mine will care for me, and so on. I have retired myself to not having children for that reason.

He's offering incentives, like large sums of money, to people/companies that can develop more efficient batteries and other sources of energy. On challenge I heard was a battery for an electric car that could go 100 miles before needing to recharge.
