Hey all, I played d2 for about two or three years, but quit a couple years ago for WoW. But I'm bored of that now and I'm coming back! only problem is that every time I try to install D2 with my stupid ass Vista Home Basic OS, Windows Explorer freezes when the install disc loads and only unfreezes when I take the disc out. Any suggestions at all would be helpful. If you need any other system info and think you could help, just ask. Thanks!

DII has no Vista issues that I've encountered.
Tip when dealing with computers: More often than an OS conflict it's a driver conflict.

When I installed D2 onto my computer with Vista i had to make sure it had the correct "permissions" to do the auto run or else mine would freeze. :S

HMMM, my computer, with the same OS won't run D2 either, said it was a known compatablity issue... I have heard it will run on some but not other computers and haven't taken the time to figure out why myself. I still have the old computer and use that for D2... Sorry, guess this doens't help much but it will at least bump this thread and I can watch to see what the fix is.
Good luck

When it tells you there are known compatability issues there's an option to run it anyway.

Try enabling compatibility mode for XP. Than try disabling desktop composition, and Visual Themes, that's how It work for me on vista.
