I understand correctly that you making hammerdin then I don't see the point of a griffon(maybe for meph haven't played in a while and a bit hazzy on the full stats of griffons) but a um'ed/ber'ed Shako will do fine.
Second of all I had a fully geared hammerdin and lighting sorc but nothing took out the ubers like a good old fashioned smiteadin.

if anything sell that griffs for a pal circlet.
Just use a Shako with Ber if you cant get that
