D2 MultiRes crashes when loading game

Does anyone know how to get D2 MultiRes (play at any resolution) to work? I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and have tried the following:
- Setting WinXP compatibility for all .exe files
- Disabling desktop composition for all .exe files
- Setting game to directdraw
- Setting game to direct3D
- Updating the game to exactly v1.12a
My game is genuine, with LoD installed. I do not have ANY mods installed, since I just installed the game.
It will always freeze after it's done loading (when the light from the archway is at the maximum). If I alt-tab out, it will give "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATIION (c0000005)". The game runs fine if I just launch from the normal game.exe. But I'd like to play in higher resolutions. Does anyone know a solution to this? Thanks.

which ver of d2multires did you get?

I have v1.02, which I believe is the latest version. It only works with D2 v1.12a, which is why I haven't upgraded to the latest 1.13c yet.

are you playing without the d2 cd?

Yes. I copied over the .mpq files so I don't need the CD to play.

I have never tried to use this so best thing would be for me to install it tomorrow and see if it will work for me
it will be diff because I will be on vista 32 bit but at lease will see if it will work

Oh I got it working now. I had to switch my system language to English for some reason. Funny this resolution mod is affected by system language. o.O

great - does it really makes a diff lol

Yes it makes everything smaller but viewing distance is almost doubled. Drawback is some glitches:
- Most windows like inventory or skills will be duplicated, displaying two copies of the same window when opened
- Some dialogue boxes are off-position (such as hiring mercenary window)
- Framerate decreases, sometimes even stutters

Hello! I have the same problem here but my system language is English. Until last night the d2multires worked just fine, but today it doesn't work anymore. I tried reinstalling d2 twice but nothing works. Can anyone help me please?

which ver of D2 are you trying to use this with and are you using the single player mode?

sorry I won't be much help with this since I don't have a 1.12 D2 - best I can say would be if you can search for info on the web about it
plus I have never used it so don't know what it takes to get it to working

1. that is what I understand or can find that it has not been patched to 1.13 and work
2. I can't answer on this one so don't know if you can or not
