is cold mastery worth maxing? ive gotten into arguements about it and id like help

yea its affective of course because it boost your attack and cuts there deffenses and u cant tell if it helps u but i does(at least have a few points into it to get the starting bonus)

IMO i dont think maxing it is worth it. I just put 1 pnt into it and let my + 8 skills boost it. Its at like 60 or 65% or wtv, cold pierce anyway, no point in maxxing that skill when each additional point put in it gives like 1 %.

each point gives +5
here are a couple reasons to max it
1. at 100% u can take dc
2. at around lvl 95 its doing 150%
3. with enough facets thats around 200% mastery, doing 2x as much dmg to bosses
4. if u use doom and a ton of facets u can get around 300% and with 10-15k blizz thats quite a lot of dmg (30-45k) per hit (6-9k in duels)

i ask because my friends say its shit it does nothing and is the worst mastery ever

actually i think its the most effective. Think about it. if an monster has 90 fire resistance, and u do 100 fire dmge, they take 10 fire dmge yeah?and fire mastery increases that dmge by lets say 50% so thats 15 dmge. But if u did 100 cold dmge and the monster has 90 cold resist, ur mastery reduces his resist by lets say 20% on lvl 1, so its 70 cold resist. Then ur cold sorc does 30dmge, 3x times more than w/o mastery

why is light mastery crappiest?
fire and light mast increase dmge by a %, and light mastery increases much more than fire does, so how is it worse?
