LOD Install Error: D2xtalk.mpq

When Im installing LOD the installation will almost finish then towards the end of the process the installation will stop and ask for the expansion disk. What dosent makes sence is the expansion disk is already in...

My ? is can someone plz forward these d2xtalk.mpq files 2 me and tell me where to place them...

By the way I tried d'ling patches for both D2 and LOD and that didnt help any so if you have a suggestion of support plz dont come to me with that... Thank you and anyones help would be most appreciated...

Well no ones came off with a reply yet so maybe I asked the wrong question...

Well it's not reading your CD so it's probubly scratched a bit, mine does that too. If you had MSN I could probubly send you the file but I'm not sure if it would do any good. and I don't think theres anywhere you could DL it. Might be easier to just buy a new Expansion CD :S

same thing happened to my friend but then his normal D2 disc in his other drive and it worked fine maybe try that out i aint sure

I do have one more suggestion, if your able to take files from CD onto your desktop or a folder, you might be able to burn the CD and install with the burnt copy, then use the actual CD to play. Might work.

get alcohol 120% you can burn then play and install with a burned copy

Ok I was having the samr problem here's what you do.


<DT>Copy the D2Music.MPQ

1. Open My Computer from the Windows Desktop
   
2. Right click the CD ROM drive containing the Diablo II: Lord of Destruction Disc and choose OPEN
   
3. Right click on the D2XMUSIC.MPQ file and choose COPY
   
4. Open the drive letter onto which Diablo 2 has been installed and then open the Diablo II folder
   
5. Right click on a blank space within the Diablo II folder and choose PASTE
   
6. Select the D2XMUSIC.MPQ file and press F2 to rename the file to D2MUSIC.MPQ.
   
7. Install and play the game

It's work's just make a back up in case you mess it up, and remember to paste it into your original d2 dont just reinstall it.

Hey guys, I am having the same problem
LOD keeps asking for the disc even tho its already mounted in the drive.
The only difference is that it always stops on d2exp.mpq.

I tried the above fix but it just tells me that the file already exists in that folder.

any suggestions?

I have the entire Diablo II battle chest and I have never been able to get LOD to install. It has not been able to locate d2exp.mpq on the cd since the day I got it. I have tried all the things blizzard has told me to do and read forums with ideas how to fix it and I've tried it all. I have tried making an image of the disk and fixing it. I've tried to copy it to my hard drive, and even when I try this there is a read error. I have the disks and the cd-keys all I need is this one file. Please if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Follow this guide: http://www.blizzsector.co/diablo-ii-disc...zzard.html to download D2+Lod from Blizzard, then install from that. Note that when you enter your cd key in on the blizzard site it will then give you a larger key to use for the digital download.

hey im haveing a problem like you guys are..i just got a new pc and it has vista on it.. and some people say thats why d2 wont down load the d2LOD { d2 downloads fine } any ideas how to fix this??

BTW spitfire i was wondering if i down loaded them like you said do you think this will work so i can play??

I'm having the exact same problem, windows vista is a piece of shit and a curse. I've reinstalled diablo about 7 times now trying a million different things.had to wait for 20 mins for blizzard call support and they never bothered answering. Ive followed all the steps on their other support page and even then vista blocks things and continues to make this process 100x worse. Im planning on trying this method tommorow so wish me luck. It takes about atleast 3 hours for d2 to install and 1 hour for LOD to install. I installed LOD without D2 first and it didn't even work, it just used diablo 2 instead, apparently the download was a waste of time. Im going to have to uninstall again adn try to download both of the files from the website to try to get it to work. In summary, vista should be banned and destroyed permanently.
