We didn't wanna pay taxes so we went to war and gained independance. But then we get taxed anyway and by our own government..... on everything. Theres really not one thing you can do that involves making or spending money where the government doesnt get their cut.
That was was about freedom. It wasn't about the taxes persay, it was about the British Tyrany (which the taxes represented). They didn't want to be run by overseas people who didn't do anything for them anymore.
