how much mf is the best for meph

alot of ppl say around 400-450 is best, but some say like 700+ i wanna know which is better for finding more,better items, more often?

i would say the more mf the better.. as long as you can keep killing him at a consistant rate without to many problems... because there is no point in having all that mf if you can't kill him or he kills you 5 times before you kill him .

I was told that the more you have the less uniques drop and the more rares drop. But I dunno. I think that applied to Pindle. Not sure...

There really is no over kill, people will say 400-450, because theyve gotten lucky. Tearo is right.

statistics are cofusing for our human brains we alwayls try and find patterns in things, but there is really no pattern to item drops other than mf ie more mf equals a greater chance of magical, rare, unique items dropping but this doesnt mean the awesome uniques are going to drop even if you have a hacked sp char with 19399% mf it just means there is a greater basically more mf is better if you can still kill fast

it means, mf is only a factor in helping your character get good drops. the most important part about looking for drops is repitition

For me I use 626% mf on my bliz sorc for meph and find items such as SS, arachnids and such but on pindle I find nothing but charms with that mf so I ussually lower it to 510% and I find shit like 15% nightwings and a 29 res maras.

The more mf..the not better.. Hence the word "magic" find. The more mf you tend to have the more "magic" items you find rather then unique and etc. True, your chance of unique goes higher, but your chance of finding magic is like an exaggerated 20 times more. Id say about 400-500 by the way.

according to blizzard the more mf the better. A while ago they posted this confirmation at battle.net forums.

All the other junk that there is some "sweet" mf number is just a rumor and/or a coincidence. The more mf the better.

okay here goes a very small guide to MF

1. The more MF you have the better.
2. The more people you have in the games equals better drops.
3. Easy as that, Best place to mf with full game is Mephisto, andariel and pindle might get to strong for a sorc (having a good merc always works too)

the more people you have in the games equals MORE DROPS not better ones though since more items are dropping uou multiply your chances of finding good things but not directly related to number of ppl in game; REPEAT more mf is better it raises chance for all magical items (magic, rares, uniques) which is good; btw runes dont depend on mf

i would say at leave for me is 450% magic find bu when i have most of my shit on i have about 520% mf.....so that should be about good when ur around 450% you know ur good....

The BNET site says they fixed mf so its the more the better but i have 2 agree with skidude cuz with my sorc i had 618 mf and found CRAP but my pally with 303 finds awesome stuff and also a full game drops better

More MF is ALWAYS going to increase your chances of finding magical/rare/unique/set items to a certain extent. There are diminishing returns all the time though that begin to get severe (particularly for unique finding) after 300.

If you really want to increase your chances:
MF in full 8 player games.
Kill as many monsters as possible. (E.g. WALK instead of TELE)
Use as much MF gear as you can (while still being able to solo all your spots)

:x More mf may just be bad because you're so loaded up on 15K MF and you don't have enough killing power to take out an A1 norm carver as a result. (I've taken on 2-3 groups of these in Tristram at a time as a naked Lv8 sorc before by the way though.. even without spells; so if you really can't, it's a sign you need to lower your MF and increase your +skills, or damage or something.)

MF has been fixed, actually it's been "improved" too in the sense that 0% MF in 1.10 is supposedly the equivalent of having about.. what is it, I think 350% MF in 1.09?

THAT'S why people can get away with 300-400%MF and still find good stuff. MF doesn't determine how much drops, what drops, or anything like that. Just the relative quality of it. (I dont mean normal/exceptional/elite, I mean magical+)
