A couple of tabbed songs I try playing on guitars need PM ( palm muting )
The only problem is that when I try to PM, it stops doing any song when I hit strings.......
I think I'm not putting my hand at right place or right way.......
Help me please!
( Pictures would be good but words are ok too )

Try not applying so much pressure to the strings.

right where the bridge ends and the actual strings start is where you want to rest your palm to get a good 'chunk' technique

ya how long have u been playing guitar? and by the way that guitar u have sux..... now ive built guitars and know wut is good and wut is crappy...... the pick ups dont give good tone or distortion ( just liek the stand strat u have to change them) its only good if u are a begginer and dont care if it sounds good....i suggest u build ur own or buy a les paul.... and if u play heavy metal or hardcore i suggest u get a jackson ( randy rhoads1)

i have a fender strat squire and i love it. even tho i'm not a big guitar player my dad has been in a band since he was 16 he's 48 now self taught and can light those strings up. he got me my guitar (well he's bought me more than one) but that was the best one he got me. he uses a telecaster and a taylor acoustic/electric. i have a takamine acoustic and a crappy bass but it came with the amp i bought so it was a good deal. and as far as palm muting goes i can't do it to save my life, but i'm a bass guy so i dunno. i don't do alot of metal either.

I don't understand how you can't palm mute. Something must be wrong with your guitar because its not anything complicated. Maybe you're putting your hand too far away from the bridge?

yeah I'm saying that how can he not even do it at all? I have an epi lp slash sig and a strat and I have to say its a bit easier on the lp than the strat though, I've never heard of his guitar though, only seen pictures he's posted.

Doesn't matter what kind of guitar it is (unless you play a cardboard box with fishing wire on it), the technique is usually pretty much the same - just put the edge of your palm far enough to make a muted type of sound, but not so far that it just blocks all the sound.
