Nah, You are right, there are some bands who "hit sum drums and flings strings on a guitar and scream", but that is exactly why nobody listens to them. They suck. Metal is very "niche" based. You may like one band and not like the other one. There are very few bands that can produce "metal to the masses", and that is because they produce universally good music. Crap bands die out very quickly because they have no followers.

You have obviously never played or tried to play an instrument before. Prodcuers spend time to make a beat? Do you know how much more complex metal is? At least Metal requires some form of talent. You've just enlightened me, I did not know that the producers came up with the beats. Rappers only have to have lived in the ghetto to become successful, because as MTV is now, the kids are eating up the music of former Drug Dealer/Low Lives. In rap, the lyrics are literal, so all they have to sing about is being shot, dealing drugs, or "pimpin'" to have a hit. The requirement to being a rapper is pretty much being alive, and not have short term memory lost or amnesia so they can sing about what they did yesterday.
