I assume by metal you mean old skool godfathers of metal (i.e. AC/DC, Black Sabbath, etc) If not, then where's the neither button. The only reason to listen to rap is when you're at a party with hot and drunk girls. Because for some reason, a black man's fast voice and a drum make them a lot more ... social.

Yes, besides metal and classical music, I like a little bit of country, but I prefer the heavier tones. In Estonia we have quite a few good folk-rock and folk-metal bands (in fact I just went to a concert last Saturday). Adding to that, Nightbreed, there are quite a few good ones from Norway as well, I like Storm and... what was the name of Fenriz's one man band... Isengard.

Talking + beat added = rap

Most rap is so goddamn simple compared to metal. I am a metalhead, therefore I listen to a lot of metal, however on the other hand, I hear a lot of rap, because my brother listens to it a lot. Also, I find rap good to dance to in clubs, why? Because it is so goddamn simple. It is the same thing all over again with talking in the background. As someone correctly pointed out, You have quite obviously never played an instrument, oh and don't call keyboards instruments. Any fool can make magic with those toys. If You want something real of the kind, learn the piano. Once You can play Beethoven's 5th symphony, I'll take my words back.

Personally, I play the bass, and I have played in various bands as well. I know the roles that each instrument serves in music, for example how the bass helps the drummer keep the beat etc. There is none of that in rap. One day You could literally come up with a simple verse, I would write the music in 2 hours and we could make a cd. Yes, rap does take some kind of talent, i.e. being able to speak almost comprehensibly very fast, however that is peanuts to the kind of skill that You see in 99% of metal.

YoungImmortal likes to say owned after he makes arguments, don't bother him or he'll own you. And Immortal, you yourself said that the producers make up their own beats, not the artists. Also, how can you possibly argue that beats are hard to make up? They're usually only 3 or 4 different notes. Metal has a couple different riffs per song, and a solo. And a keyboard? Wow. If you're making up something as simple as a beat, you don't need to know jack shit. You just press a few notes that are close together and repeat some of them and change the order around to make it sound "catchy" so little 10 year old white kids will eat it up. And Pyrocrow, don't listen to Immortal when he says owned, wiggers like to convince themselves that they own people, just like they like to convince themselves that they're black.

What the hell is this thing that "ok I like the classics like AC/DC, etc", the rest of metal sucks. Dimmu Borgir had a 50 piece orchestra on their new album, yet they are about as "mainstream" as You can get in Black Metal.

I am ready to accept the "fact" that rap is on par with metal on structure, required skill, etc, but I just haven't seen a single goddamn valid arguement for it.
