... That blows. If you have them look at it knowing Best Buy's Nazi-like management they'd probably purposefully jerk it off for more than 30 minutes just to get money out of you.
monitor just got ****ed from doom 3?

well say if i did have a warranty with ATI anyway for like buying the product, would i just phone them or would i send it to them or would they send me a knew one or does anyone know? or should i just stick to taking it in to best buy?

yes your card has dvi. should have s-video, vga, and dvi.
s-video = connects to tv's with s-video (lowest quality) vga = connects to conventional computer monitor (medium quality) dvi = connects to LCD and HDTV's (highest quality)

Damn.. during Doom 3? I just got that too. Havn't played it yet, but scared to if it's going to blow out my Graphic Card. Tell me if this should be enough to run Doom 3. Radeon Xpress X200 256MB. Gah! I want to play it but I have no idea if it will blow out my Graphic card!!

i play doom3 on my Geforce 6200 OC 256mb with no problems on medium level graphics 1024x768

An X200 isn't gonna cut it, sorry. You could try using a DVI to VGA converter to plug your monitor into the second plug and see if it's artifacts then, the card should've come with one. Also, in the future don't buy anything expensive from BestBuy, you can get it for much cheaper online.

well i just went and they said they will exchange it for a new ati radeon x700 pro, now should i keep it and get a cooler or something so it doesnt overheat? or sell it on ebay for $250 canadian and sell my old video card for $100 and then buy something else? what do you guys think i should do
01-08-2006, 03:41 PM
Buy a 6800 (I think there's a GT model of it.) Or if you're on a budget you can get the 6600 GT. It runs BF2 on medium so Doom 3 will be no problem. Anyway, both cards are better than an X700 and the 6600 is only like 140 bucks. But you HAVE to buy a new FHS or this shit WILL overheat. (As far as the 6600 goes)

ok sounds good... but what the hell is FHS and where would i buy it?
and also what if i got my hands on a ATI Radeon x850 pro would that be better then 6600 gt and is nvidia or ati better? or is it really just preference?
01-09-2006, 03:46 AM
just depends on what you want your system to do. Do you have dual PCI-E slots or just single? if you have dual your mobo most likely supports SLI which means you can run 2 cards and therefore you'd want to go with nvidia. they seem to be the better card for dual setups. and if all that is the case i wouldn't even waste my time with a 6600. just go 6800 they're not much more expensive and you'll be alot happier with it. plus i'm biased towards nvidia because i've always bought nvidia. my last card before i upgraded was an MSI Geforce MX440 64mb graphics card, and with the software that came with it i could overclock the hell out of it and it NEVER overheated and i could play HL2 smoothly on low to medium settings.
*Disclaimer. if it seems like i'm rambling on in that paragraph let me know because i literally just woke up.

i perfer nvidia, but hey, i also like intel lol..... but i have a nvidia 5500, its kinda weak but i like nvidia's setting manager nview or whatever better than ati catlyist, i also have a ati x800 or x850 (cant remember which) in a dell xps with intel 820 or 830 (again cant remember) in it, so idk both are good, but i prefer nvidia, again its preferance.... u know what i mean,
this was rambleing deadlyy guy lol omg i just realized, this is my 100th post!!! yay for me lol

The 6600 GT blows the socks off the x700 and it's ~140 bucks. A FHS is fan/heatsink. There's on on svc.com or something like that. It's a Zalman, it's excellent, brings the temperatures down 30 C.

Never mind. I think my computer may run it. I went to my friends this week, and installed Doom 3 on his computer. We have basically the same computer except:
His: Pentium 4 ~3199Ghz 1028MB DDR Ram ATI Radeon X400 256MB(I think) Mine: AMD Sempron ~3199Ghz 768MB DDR Ram ATI Radeon Xpress X200 256MB His computer played it on High Graphics no problem, and had just a bit of lag on Ultra High. I'm going to test it on my computer and see if it works. Hell I just hope this doesn't **** up my computer as it did to X-AtreYu.

It won't **** your computer up. Software can't **** your computer up. He had a simple hardware failure.
